More than two years have passed since the debut of the latest-generation Aston Martin Vantage coupe, and the British manufacturer is only now launching an open version of the model.
The highlight of the new roadster is the advanced roof control mechanism, which allows the soft top to be folded or raised in record time of 6.7 and 6.8 seconds, respectively. In this case, the procedure itself should be carried out at a speed of less than 50 km / h.
The first production samples of the novelty, which turned out to be more expensive than the base coupe, will begin arriving at customers in the second quarter of this year.
At home, the price of Aston Martin Vantage Roadster 2021 will be 126,950 pounds, in Germany — 157,300 euros, in the USA — 161,000 dollars.
On the Russian market, the closed version of the supercar costs 13 million rubles, which means that the roadster will be offered for at least 14 million rubles.
Features of the Vantage Roadster
The convertible roof integration required the developers to make changes to the original vehicle layout.
To accommodate the Z-shaped transformation mechanism, of course, additional space had to be found, which was obtained by reducing the luggage compartment.
The volume of the cargo compartment has almost halved — from 350 to 200 liters.
The soft-top version, as expected, turned out to be heavier than the closed version, but British engineers tried to level the difference between the brothers by revising many body elements and chassis parts.
As a result, after optimization, the mass of the roadster exceeded the mass of the coupe by only 60 kg — in the equipped condition the car weighs 1628 kg.
Along with the release of the novelty, both versions of the Aston Martin Vantage have been added another variant of the radiator grille decor.
If earlier only hunter mesh was available for it, now the buyer will be able to order a design with vane strips. In addition, new types of rims have been prepared for the debut of the roadster.
Specifications
The dimensions of the body of cars with a soft top and a hard top are completely identical: length — 4465 mm, width — 1942 mm, height — 1273 mm.
The wheelbase is 2704 mm. The only difference is the weight distribution along the axles: if the coupe has an ideal ratio of 50:50, then the roadster has a slight skew towards the rear axle — 49:51.

The biturbo V8 4.0 unit develops 510 hp of thrust. and 685 Nm, which is transmitted to the wheels via an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The new Roadster accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 306 km / h (the coupe has 3.6 seconds and 314 km / h).
The adaptive chassis of the novelty has the same three modes of operation (Sport, Sport +, Track), but the rear shock absorbers and the stabilization system have original settings here.
