Audi Q5 Sportback: a competitor for the coupe BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe.
Earlier, the Germans presented a restyled crossover Audi Q5 2021 model year, and a few months later a new model Q5 Sportback appeared in the manufacturer’s line with blocked rear pillars.
This version is designed to compete with the coupe BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe.
Both front and rear, the new Audi Q5 Sportback 2022 almost completely repeats the original, with the exception of a special pattern in the radiator grille, a differently designed rear bumper, other air intakes in the front bumper and a special design of the rims.
Of course, there is a different roof, original rear pillars and wider side windows in them.
The interior in the car is exactly the same as on the original «Q-fifth», which, after the upgrade, acquired a 10.1-inch touchscreen of the new generation MMI multimedia system, which supports voice command control.
For a surcharge, a projection onto the frontal and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel is offered.
At the same time, due to the slightly sloping roof in the second row, the seats on the heads of the rear passengers have been reduced by a couple of centimeters.
Compared to the original, the overall length of the Audi Q5 Sportback has increased by almost invisible 7 mm (up to 4689), while the width (1893) and height (1662) remained the same, and a version with the prefix “L ”And a wheelbase increased by 88 millimeters.
The volume of the trunk of the car has decreased from 550 to 510 liters, while the company notes that the drag coefficient (0.30) of the model has remained the same.
A wide range of powertrains is offered for the crossover, and the four-cylinder engines are supplemented with 12-volt hybrid superstructures, and the «sixes» are equipped with 48-volt starter-generators.
Manual boxes are no longer offered even for basic versions, and front-wheel drive is only the initial diesel version, while the rest come either with the quattro ultra system with rear wheel couplings, or with quattro permanent all-wheel drive (for cars with six-cylinder engines).
The 40 TFSI is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine producing 204 hp.
45 TFSI comes with a similar unit, but boosted to 265 hp.
The 35 TDI is the entry-level 2.0 TDI diesel, developing 163 hp. and 370 Nm
40 TDI — here the same engine produces 204 «horses» and 400 Nm of torque
The 50 TDI is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 286 hp.
The SQ5 TDI sports a three-liter diesel engine, boosted to 341 hp.
Plus, the crossover’s arsenal includes versions 50 TFSI e and 55 TFSI e — hybrid modifications based on a two-liter petrol «four» with a total capacity of 299 and 367 hp. respectively.
Note that machines with «sixes» under the hood put an 8-band automatic, while all others are paired with a preselective S tronic robot.
The production of the Audi Q5 Sportback was established at the brand’s plant in Mexico, the start of sales of the new item in Russia is scheduled for the very end of the twentieth year, the prices will be announced later.
At the same time, it was decided to supply us with a crossover with a single 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline turbo engine, derated to 249 hp. (370 Nm).
It is paired with a seven-speed S tronic robot and quattro ultra all-wheel drive transmission.
