And the details about the new car have been declassified by Rosstandart. And there is a lot of curious things to compare with the Aurus Senat and Rolla-Royce Cullinan.
The Aurus Komendant luxury crossover, which is one of the most expected novelties, has appeared in the Rosstandart database.
The main news is that the Russian crossover will be one of the largest and heaviest cars in the world in its class.
Its length reaches 5,380 mm which is 252 mm less than the Senat model. But the Komendant surpasses the dimensions of the British SUV.
Wheelbase of the Russian car reaches 3 100 mm, width — 2 004 mm, and height — 1 820 mm.
The weight of the car is also astonishing — 3 235 kg. For comparison, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan weighs 575 kg less.
This is explained by a special design of the body. It was made to install armored material.
The interior space is represented in the number of four seats in two rows. The rear row has individual high comfort seats.
In the GTS it is possible to read information about one modification of the model — with permanent all-wheel drive.
Its curb weight is 3 235 kg, gross weight is 3 495 kg, there is a possibility to install armor plates.
Let’s notice that the wheelbase of the Aurus Komendant is 200 mm shorter than that of the serial sedan Senat, but otherwise it is unified with it as far as the running gear is concerned.
This indicates that there are several driving presets in the design, including Auto, Sport, Comfort and Allroad. Ground clearance of the vehicles is 200 mm.
At the same time Rosstandart noted that this OTTS is valid only for 150 cars. This may be either the pre-production vehicles, or a special version that will enter the market first.
But we don’t expect any significant changes because the new Aurus Komendant should be presented in spring.
There is interesting news on the technical part. For the first time in the Aurus history the car gets pneumatic suspension instead of spring suspension.
Also will be added an element of comfort when driving — gear shifting will be carried out with the help of paddles from the steering wheel.
Previously The logic was worked out only with electronics. Automated system, which is called to help the driver on the road, is still in the equipment. It can be called autopilot of the most basic level.
At the moment, the SUV is announced only with four seats in the cabin, that is, rear row passengers will be provided with increased comfort.
Under the hood will be V8 engine with a working volume of 4.4 liters and output of 598 hp.
It combines with a 9 automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. The car will be assembled by NAMI, as well as at the plant in Elabuga.
The Scientific Automotive Institute (FSUE NAMI) has received Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for a rather interesting full-size SUV Aurus Komendant.
By the power plant, it was decided to unify the Komendant with the Senat.
That is, it is equipped with a hybrid system, which consists of a 4.4-liter biturbocharged V8 NAMI-4123, working in tandem with a 9-speed automatic transmission KATE-R932 and lithium-ion battery.
The engine output is 598 hp and torque is 880 Nm. The electric car is able to add another 28 kW (38 hp).
Engineers have prepared four modes of operation:
1) starting the internal combustion engine with an electric motor;
2) exclusively internal combustion engine;
3) combined (simultaneous drive from a simple power unit and electric motor);
4) battery charging mode from the internal combustion engine.
OTTS for the new Aurus Komendant came into force on September 14, 2021, it has no deadline, but there is a limit for the amount of models produced — not more than 150 items.
Under this certificate a pilot batch of vehicles will be produced, but for the production of commercial models will be issued a separate OTTS without a limit on the volume of assembly.
Serial production of the Aurus Komendant should start in late 2022 — early 2023.
