British automaker Bentley has unveiled the new Continental GT Speed 2022 model year.

The car has received minimal visual changes: darkened grille, thin chrome badges on the front fenders, side skirts and new 22-inch wheels.

The interior of the new model uses handmade materials, which are combined with unique trim elements available only for this car.

The interior upholstery is two-tone, with a choice of 15 and 11 shades of primary and complementary colors, respectively.

In addition to the standard option of black decorative inserts, they can also be made of walnut, eucalyptus or koa, at the customer’s choice. The volume of the luggage compartment is 358 liters.

Specifications.

The updated coupe is powered by a 6-liter 650-horsepower W12 TSI engine with a torque of 900 Nm.

The engine is combined with an 8-speed robotized transmission with two clutches and all-wheel drive system. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The top speed is 335 km/h.

The novelty is equipped with a fully controlled chassis: the rear wheels turn in tact with the front ones at high speeds and in the opposite direction — at low speeds.

There is also electronic locking rear differential eLSD.

Bentley Continental GT Speed: almost the fastest ever.

The third generation Bentley Continental GT has got the traditional Speed version.

From the outside you can recognize the novelty by the characteristic black decor (including the radiator grille), as well as a miniature spoiler on the stern.

The wheels of this car have 22-inch rims, while the standard model has 21-inch ones.

And the interior of this modification is quite standard, without any unique features.

In motion the Bentley Continental GT Speed leads a 6.0-liter turbo W12 engine, the output of which was brought to 659 hp. (+ 24), while the torque has not changed — the same 900 Nm.

Interestingly, the British kept the system of switching off half of the cylinders at low loads, which contributes to fuel economy. The engine works together with the 8-band preselective robot.

To accelerate from a place to a hundred Bentley Continental GT Speed in the new body requires 3.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard version of the coupe with a W12 engine.

The top speed is 335 km/h (+ 2). Compared to its predecessor, the novelty was 0.6 seconds faster in acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, and the maximum speed rose by 3 km/h.

According to the developers, this sports car is the most dynamic car in the history of the British brand.

However, this statement is rather a trick of marketers, as the fastest model of the brand was and remains Continental Supersports of the last generation, which accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3,5 seconds and its speed limit is 336 km/h.

But the Speed version is absolutely the first Bentley to receive electronically controlled locking rear differential eLSD.

Plus it’s the brand’s first coupe with a fully controllable chassis. Until recently, only the Flying Spur saloon was fitted with rear-wheel steering actuators.

Now they are available on the Continental GT, and on the two-door, the full-steer chassis not only reduces the turning radius, but also provides more «lively» steering.

From the standard version of the model, the new Bentley Continental GT Speed also differs carbon-ceramic brakes (previously offered exclusively for the modification Supersport).

There are ten-piston mechanisms in front of the car and four-piston ones behind.

Driving modes on the modification are the same, but in the «Sport» preset involved other settings of the adaptive chassis and active stabilizers, as well as halved the time of shifting gears.

On sale the new Continental GT Speed will appear in the summer of the twenty-first year, the cost of the model is not specified yet.
