Both models will be shown live as part of the next stage of the DTM series at Hockenheim, and the start of car sales is scheduled for the spring of the twentieth.
The new body of the BMW X5 M 2020 this time is not so much different from the usual «X-fifth».
There is a more aggressive front bumper with enlarged air ducts, a different rear bumper with a diffuser and four round exhaust pipes, as well as a slightly more developed spoiler over the fifth door glass.
Also, for the sports crossover, 21-inch wheels of a special design and branded rear-view mirrors were prepared.
Simultaneously with the X5 M, a more extreme version of the BMW X5 M Competition 2020 was presented, which can be recognized by the black high-gloss grille, mirror caps and other elements, plus there are different-sized wheels (21 «front, 22» rear).
The interior of the new BMW X5 M (F95) model has a leather M steering wheel with paddle shifters and buttons «M1» and «M2» for quick activation of custom driving electronics presets.
The car also received sports seats with integrated head restraints, metal pedals, a special gearshift selector, a special display mode on the electronic tidy and an exclusive finish.
Specifications
Under the hood of the 2020 BMW X5 M is the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found on the M5 and M8 models. It develops 600 hp by default. and 750 Nm of torque, and on the X5 M Competence version, the recoil is increased to 625 «horses» with a similar peak thrust.
The engine is mated to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission that transfers power to all wheels.
The xDrive all-wheel drive transmission here has its own settings and is already in the base supplemented with an electronically controlled active rear differential, but this off-road vehicle is not allowed to drift.
To accelerate from zero to a hundred, the new BMW X5 M 2020 takes 3.9 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor), the crossover overcomes the 200 km / h mark in 13.7 seconds, and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. But when you order the M Driver’s packer, you can get a top speed of a very decent 290 kilometers per hour.
The BMW X5 M Competition (F95) variant is, as expected, a little faster: it covers 0-100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, while the difference in acceleration to two hundred is already more noticeable — 13.2 seconds. But the maximum speed here is exactly the same.
Both variants from the factory are equipped with powerful brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle (brake disc diameter 395 mm) and single-piston calipers on the rear (380 mm). In addition, instead of a vacuum booster, an electromechanical unit is installed here, which allows you to change the sensitivity and effort on the brake pedal.
Among other technical features of the BMW X 5 M in the new body, it is worth noting a reinforced body with a massive strut in the engine compartment, as well as the presence of an adaptive suspension with original elastokinematics and stiffer rubber-metal joints, plus an active rear stabilizer.
There are many options for different settings for the machine, which can be combined in different ways. For example, the power unit has three modes of operation, three modes are also provided for the steering mechanism, two each for the suspension and transmission, plus two modes for the brakes.
Options and prices
The start of sales of the new BMW X5 M is scheduled for May 2020, but orders are already open. The price of a 600-horsepower crossover in the SE configuration is 8,990,000 rubles.
The equipment includes diode head optics with laser-phosphor high beam, front seats with electric drive and ventilation, Bowers & Wilkins music, heated front and rear seats, all-round cameras, door closers, adaptive cruise, etc.
The cost of a more powerful 625-horsepower BMW X5 M Competition starts at 9.2 million rubles. — such a car has wider rear tires, a different exhaust system and a two-seater rear sofa instead of a three-seater.
