BMW registered the trade name «X8 M» in 2020, and today it is associated with a large SUV, which Bavarians plan to show on November 29 at the auto show in Los Angeles.
However, the first demonstration — unofficial, will take place already on the 17th as part of the Los Angeles Auto Show, as reported by the manufacturer itself.
Many insiders inform that the novelty will be called BMW XM, not to «bind» it to a number order and emphasize that it is originally a development of M-division.
In addition, the exterior styling of the new SUV could be very different from the actual X7, and the new hybrid engine, which will be on top of the available range, should make the crossover XM 2022 model year the most powerful car BMW: according to preliminary data, this power plant will produce more than 700 hp.
What is known?
The first spy photos of BMW X8M/XM began to appear in the network in summer, and even then attentive observers saw in the camouflaged front optics hint at a two-story design, where the top will appear horizontal strips of daytime running lights, and on the sides of a large grille will be located main, larger LED blocks.
An interesting solution will also be the vertical «double-barrelled» exhaust system, which, moreover, will not be round, but the rear lights will remind the X7, but they can be really ginormous in size.
One more important attribute of any modern crossover is a line of a roof, which on the X8M/XM definitely will not become coupe-like.
This solution will add space for the rear passengers, make the trunk more roomy and possibly allow you to add an option in the form of a third row of seats.
However, the M-Section can do without it, as such a car definitely will not be positioned as a family SUV.
Rather, it will be a car with a sports character, where engineers will try to extract from the motor power to the present maximum.
Technical stuffing and characteristics
Insiders report that the new BMW XM 2022 will have a hybrid modification in M version.
But the most curious thing is that this model is presented as fully autonomous, that is, with its original exterior and a completely new engine.
The BMW XM 2022 model year is likely to get the xDrive system and large 23-inch wheels, which will need powerful brake discs.
The engine lineup should include a variety of hybrid motors, starting with 3.0-liter turbocharged inline sixes supplemented by relatively small electric motors.
The «top» version will definitely be represented by a new V8 connected to the electric transmission.
It is interesting, that 700 hp of power of this unit is called the minimal possible bar, so it is quite possible to expect appearance of additional «horses».
Most likely, under the hood of the flagship will appear S68 motor, which BMW has been developing since 2019.
Then the motorists of the Bavarian company promised that in 2-3 years they will present a high-performance engine in twin-turbo configuration, which is suitable for M-versions and at the same time will have an electronic add-on that allows to meet the strict environmental standards.
Prices and release date in Russia
The official market launch of the BMW X8M/HM SUV will take place in 2022, and because it will be assembled in the United States, between the first sales in America and the appearance of cars in Russia will be at least a few months.
The price will be higher than the price for a 530 hp BMW X7 M50i, which is 10,5 million rubles.
