Chevrolet Captiva 2022. The «second» Chevrolet Captiva was updated two years after its debut: a huge screen and more.

The exterior design of the American brand SUV has been tweaked, and the main new thing in the cabin is the vertical touchscreen of the multimedia system.

In general, the restyling was carried out on the model of the Chinese «source».

The crossover, which Chevrolet is positioning as the second-generation Captiva, was first shown in November 2018.

The model is not the brand’s own development — the name, well-known to Russians, hides the «Chinese» Baojun 530.

Let us remind you that the Baojun brand is a joint project of General Motors and SAIC concerns.

The «second» Captiva entered the market in 2019, today it is sold in the countries of South America and the Middle East (there was still Southeast Asia in the plans, but Chevy practically left there).

And next year, the SUV will reach Mexico, and immediately in an updated form.

If the pre-reform Captiva repeats the «pristine» Baojun 530, then the 2022 model year cross (as it is declared for Mexico) is made from a restyled «Chinese», that is, the 2019 model.

The Chevrolet SUV has got a new grille and bumpers, the LED daytime running lights located on top are even narrower, in addition, they are now united with a shiny strip.

On the other hand, the chrome insert was removed from the tailgate. External differences from Baojun 530 — the absence of shiny «strokes» on the grille, 18-inch wheels («Chinese» are supposed to be 17-inches) and, of course, a bow tie instead of a horse’s head.

The Mexican division of Chevrolet has not yet fully revealed the interior of the modernized crossover.

However, the “fragments” highlighted in the video are enough to understand that, like the updated Baojun 530, Captiva received a multimedia system with a vertical touchscreen — its presence is given out by the vertical central air vents.

In China, the cross has a 10.4-inch display, which is probably the same as the Chevy model.

In the previous Captiva, the 8-inch tablet rises above the front panel, and the vents are located under the screen.

Also, the Chevrolet Captiva received a new «tidy» and a panoramic roof with a sliding section, the Mexican version is also promised a start button for the engine, a rear-view camera and parking sensors.

At the same time, the model has only four airbags. As in other countries, in Mexico, the crossover will be available in a five- or seven-seat version (in China, the Baojun 530 still has a six-seat version).

So far, not a word about the engine, however, he probably switched from the «Chinese», we are talking about a petrol «turbo four» 1.5 with a capacity of 147 hp. — the pre-reform Captiva in other countries is equipped with the same engine.

The Chevrolet pre-styling cross is available with a “mechanics” or variator, the same boxes are likely to be found in the Mexican Captiva (the refreshed Baojun 530 is also equipped with them).

Neither the Chinese nor the model of the American brand have a full drive — only the front one.

In other markets, the Captiva is also likely to be updated, and it is possible that even before SUV sales start in Mexico.

Meanwhile, the Baojun 530 has two more brothers: in Indonesia, the crossover is known as the Wuling Almaz (Wuling is also a joint project of GM and SAIC), and in India it is MG Hector (the MG brand belongs to SAIC).

The Wuling SUV, apparently, is also waiting for a restyling, but Hector originally had his own design.
