Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021-2022.

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer takes the old name and transforms it into a new compact crossover. It has good looks, good interior, good safety features, good value for money and a nimble turbocharged three-cylinder engine.

The Trailblazer has a truck-like face with a wide and steep nose and an audacious stance with the wheels raised to the corners.

In the interior, it outperforms other crossovers in its class, especially in terms of cargo space and rear passenger legroom.

Standard equipment includes automatic braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control and automatic high beams, but crash test results are not perfect. The base model starts at $ 20,000.

Specifications

As for the speed, three power units are registered in the engine compartment of the new Trailblazer: a 1.2-liter turbo-3 or a 1.3-liter turbo-3, aggregated with a front-wheel drive variator, or a 1.3-liter turbo-3, aggregated with an automatic transmission with nine steps with four-wheel drive.

The 1.3-liter front-wheel drive gives the best mileage, with the EPA rating 29 mpg city, 33 highway and 31 mpg combined, and the 1.2-liter 28/31/29 mpg.

The 1.3-liter all-wheel drive gives 26/30/28 mpg.
In terms of crash testing, NHTSA gives it a total of four stars, four stars for rollovers, four stars for a front passenger crash test and five stars for side crashes.

IIHS has not tested the new model yet. On all but the L trim, you can get adaptive cruise control, rear parking assistance, and blind spot monitoring.

Options and prices

The new Trailblazer is available in L, LS, LT, Activ and RS trims.

• L grade starts at $ 20,000. It comes in front-wheel drive with a 1.2-liter turbo-3 and CVT. In addition to standard safety equipment, the crossover comes with fabric upholstery, a 7-inch touchscreen display, wireless charging, smartphone screen mirroring on both mobile platforms, a Wi-Fi hotspot, two USB ports, and 16-inch wheels.

• The LT trim allows you to choose between a 1.2-liter or 1.3-liter engine with a front-wheel drive CVT. For $ 26,695, you can get all-wheel drive with a 1.3-liter engine and a smooth 9-speed automatic. It adds larger 17-inch black wheels, keyless start, heated front seats, tinted rear windows, heated side mirrors, and a 10-way power driver’s seat.

• The $ 26,495 Activ trim comes with two-tone body paint (a different color for the roof), 17-inch Hankook Sport Terrain tires, adaptive dampers, and a skid plate.

• RS trim is the same price as the Activ but looks sporty rather than off-road, with black 18-inch wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel, leather shift knob, rear center armrest and LED taillights.

Upgrade options such as a larger eight-inch touchscreen display, synthetic leather seats, heated front seats and adaptive cruise control are available on LT trim and above.

All 2021 Trailblazer models come with a 3-year / 36,000 mile warranty and free first scheduled maintenance.

Exterior

Like its big brother the Blazer, the Chevy Trailblazer is shaking off the lackluster looks of three other Chevy SUVs.

With black trim around the car and a steep, vertical nose, it looks as muscular as a truck. The rounded arches accommodate wheels with a diameter of 16, 17 or 18 inches, depending on the configuration.

Interior

The baby Blazer style moves into the cabin with a black black dash, plastic chrome and an attractive center pillar with vents as a top hat and a neat pocket for storing phones at the bottom.

There’s also a small shelf above the glove box, seatback pockets and large cup holders in the doors.

The front fabric seats are a little short, but the 10-way power driver’s seat on the top trim helps provide good support. It will be more difficult for the passenger to find comfort due to the manual four-way adjustment.

The rear seats can be slightly tapered, and five adults fit quite problematically, but there’s ample headroom and nearly 40 inches of legroom, just like the larger Blazer.

The Trailblazer has one of the largest cargo bays in the small crossover class, with 25 cubic feet of space behind the 60/40 rear seat, which expands to 54 cubic feet when folded.

And the layout in the cargo area is clever, with removable sides that allow long items like golf clubs to be placed on the side.

The two-level storage floor can be raised approximately three inches to create a level cargo floor with the seats folded.
