Cupra Formentor 2021.

Cupra Formentor 2021 is a new crossover from Cupra.
Until now, only the «hot» versions of the parent company Seat have been presented in the line of cars of the Spanish brand Cupra.

But now the range has been expanded by the original Cupra Formentor crossover, which does not have the Seat clone of the same name. The newcomer debuted as a concept at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, and has now taken on a serial shape, with minimal changes compared to the prototype.

Sales of the new Cupra Formentor 2021 will start in Europe before the end of this year. Pricing will be announced prior to market launch.

Body design

The new SUV is another vehicle built on the MQB modular platform. With its low roofline and distinctive silhouette, the Formentor looks more like a raised hatchback than a classic SUV.

The features of the crossover layout include the elongated bow, the cockpit shifted to the stern, and the powerful area of ​​the rear wheel arches with characteristic aggressive stamping lines.

The rest of the rookie is a follower of the traditional Seat design philosophy, boasting signature headlights and taillights, as well as a compact hexagonal radiator grille like the last Leon. At the same time, Formentor has its own bumpers.

In terms of dimensions, the new Cupra crossover is comparable to the Tiguan. The body length of the model is 4450 mm, width — 1839 mm, height — 1511 mm. The wheelbase is 2680 mm. 19-inch alloy wheels are standard on the car.

The Cupra Formentor body enamel set includes nine colors: four metallic colors — Urban Silver, Midnight Black, Magnetic Tech and Candy White, three special ones — Graphene Gray, Dark Camouflage and Desire Red, two matte — Petrol Blue Matte and Magnetic Tech Matte.

Interior

The SUV interior is copied from the Cupra Leon. It features polished aluminum and brass accents, and the bucket seats are upholstered in Petrol Blue or Black leather.

The engine start and drive mode selection buttons are located on the multifunction steering wheel. In the presence of a digital instrument panel and a central display of the media center measuring 12 inches.

Supported functions include voice and gesture control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces, and Bluetooth technology. There are four USB-C ports for connecting gadgets.

Cupra Formentor technique

Buyers will be offered two modifications of Formentor:

• The first is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI turbo engine (310 HP, 400 Nm) and 4Drive all-wheel drive;

• The second eHybrid format combines a 1.4 TSI unit (150 hp, 250 Nm), an electric motor with 115 hp. and a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The total system output is 245 hp. and 400 Nm. The electric front-wheel drive hybrid Formentor can travel no more than 50 km.

Both versions are equipped with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch robotic gearbox. The shift-by-wire scheme means there is no mechanical connection between the selector and the gearbox.

DCC Dynamic Chassis Control constantly monitors the road surface, making adjustments to the suspension settings. There are four driving modes available: Comfort, Sport, CUPRA and Individual.
