Ford Mondeo 2023 of the new generation has been presented: now it is exclusive for China.
In January two thousand twenty-two Ford has officially declassified the Mondeo sedan of the new (fifth) generation, which was designed specifically for the market in China.
The model in the new body is the closest relative to the crossover-liftback Ford Evos and premium-sedan Lincoln Zephyr, presented in the twenty-first.
By the way, all three cars were developed at the Chinese science and technology center of the American brand.
Outside, the new Ford Mondeo 2023 has a sporty appearance with an aggressive two-story «face» in the style of the mentioned Evos.
It has narrow LED headlights flush to the wide frameless grille.
Other features of the four-door include a muscular hood, sculpted sides, and a stylish front end with an eye-catching spoiler that looks like it’s hovering over the Mustang-style taillights. The car’s wheels can be up to 19″ in diameter.
At the same time the company announced even more aggressive variant ST-Line, but still did not present images of the model’s interior.
However, the interior of the car is likely to be widely unified with the Evos.
We shall remind that the main feature of the latter is a huge 1.1-meter screen of the multimedia system.
It is reported that the Ford Mondeo 2023 is based on the front-wheel drive platform from the Ford Focus 4.
The «bogie» itself has been stretched and reinforced. A multilever suspension is installed on its rear axle.
Compared to its predecessor, the new sedan turned out to be somewhat larger.
Its length increased to 4,935 mm (+ 62), and the wheelbase was stretched to 2,945 mm (+ 95). Width and height are claimed to be 1,875 mm (+ 23) and 1,500 mm (+ 30), respectively.
In motion, the new Ford Mondeo 5 drives a 2.0-liter turbo EcoBoost, which works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic and produces 246 horsepower.
Hybrid and electric versions are not announced yet. Cruise control is promised as equipment for the model.
Full-scale premiere of sedan should take place before the end of the first quarter of 2022. JV Changan Ford will produce cars for China. Cost of the new four-door is still unknown.
