The history of the SUV began in 2008. In 2016, the model underwent its first restyling, but it did not bring much changes. And in 2020, the manufacturer presented the second restyling of the model, which became a complete rethinking of the generation. The official release date of the Kia Mohave 2020 in the South Korean market is August 21, 2019.

The windshield has remained the same small and moderately sloped, which contributes to the good streamlining of the car.

The side parts of the new SUV have undergone minor changes, but it is still possible to note a certain novelty.
The front and rear arches have acquired a new shape, and the designers decided to neglect the ends, completely cutting them off. As for the main one for the car, it is 18-inch alloy wheels as standard and 20 inches for a separate surcharge.

The rear of the car looks no less attractive than the front. The boot lid is now almost vertical. At its highest point, there is a small spoiler, which brings a sporty touch to the overall exterior. Most striking is the central part of the trunk and its LED insert, which stretches from one edge of the LED feet to their second edge. The attractive picture is complemented by a strict bumper, which, at the request of the buyer himself, can be combined with a trailed one with all the necessary automation.

A few words should be said about the roof of an SUV, which, depending on the configuration, can be very different. In the basic version, it is simply flat without any remarkable details. For a fee, you can get a panoramic sunroof or a large panorama, where its front part will be movable.

Interior

The interior pleased no less than the exterior of the car. There is something to see here and something to really admire. Only the previous seat layout reminds of the previous generation. The dashboard is completely new and is now much more modern. In the center there is a huge 12.3-inch display, which is part of a high-quality multimedia system with all the innovative goodies.

Of course, there are indeed moments where the manufacturer decided to save a little and they are very striking. First, there is a keypad for climate control, and I would like to see a touchpad there. Secondly, the keypad for the navigation system. However, all of the above cannot be considered a 100% disadvantage. On the contrary, such a decision of the manufacturer had a beneficial effect on the usability of these systems.

The central tunnel of the SUV is modern and at the same time unpretentious. Everything is in place here, so there is simply no point in finding fault with something.

Depending on the selected configuration, the buyer can get an SUV with 5, 6 or 7 seats. Regardless of the layout, the seats in the first row received a fairly high backrest and very good lateral support. I was very pleasantly pleased that the functionality of the seats, even in the basic configuration of the car, surpasses what competitors can offer in the top-end versions of their models.

In addition to heating, there is also ventilation and a massage function, so long trips will turn into sheer pleasure. Interior upholstery — genuine leather. The only pity is that it will be combined only with plastic elements made under natural wood. On the one hand, this made it possible to slightly reduce the price of the car, but on the other hand, I wanted to see more naturalness in such an SUV.

Specifications

The technical component is not very different. What will please the SUV that will be presented in our market is also not fully understood. As for the 2020 Kia Mohave, which was presented in its home market, this SUV was presented with a turbocharged diesel unit with a volume of 3 liters. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

All this is complemented by all-wheel drive with an electric clutch. Engine power was 260 horsepower. The torque is 560 Nm. In the combined cycle, fuel consumption per 100 km will be slightly more than 10 liters, which is a fairly good indicator.

As for the dimensions of the car, then, despite the statements that the model has not changed in size, the modified front and rear parts make special adjustments to this matter. SUV length — 4930 mm, height — 1790, width — 1920 mm. The ground clearance was 217 mm, which is quite suitable for Russian realities.

The presence of air suspension increased the ground clearance by 16 mm, which has a fairly large effect on the vehicle’s cross-country ability. Nevertheless, the manufacturer promised that for the Russian market it could slightly modernize the new model, so our domestic buyer can count on even greater indicators.

Options and prices

The 2020 Kia Mohave prices are a bit biting, to put it mildly. Nevertheless, the manufacturer tried to fit as many amenities as possible for the potential owner into the declared amounts, which is quite consistent with reality. There are only two complete sets of Kia Mohave 2020 in the local market of South Korea, but each of them is divided into three more sub-sets.

This means that we can consider at once 6 options for the execution of this SUV:

Complete set Base 5. Five-seat version, which will cost the buyer 2.58 million rubles;

The main difference between the complete sets from each other is precisely in the filling. Depending on the choice made, the buyer will receive special security and comfort systems. Nevertheless, even the basic version of the car is able to please with its luxury in terms of equipment. This despite the fact that the car deservedly bears the status of an SUV, inside it remains a family car, and the price bar has not exceeded 3 million rubles.

If this continues in the future, then the 2020 Kia Mohave will be able to create very serious competition for cars in its class and will have every chance to win this race.

Test Drive

A powerful engine, a suspension system in front, a «multi-link» at the rear and a sufficiently large ground clearance — what more could you wish for in order to easily overcome snowdrifts in the city and feel confident outside of it on not the best dirt roads. We have yet to find out how good this SUV is in Russian realities, but at home, the 2020 Kia Mohave test proved that the car really deserves attention.
