Koenigsegg Jesko: new Swedish hypercar with 1,600 hp engine.

Koenigsegg introduced the Jesko hypercar, named after the 80-year-old father of the head of the Swedish brand Jesko von Koenigsegg.

The premiere of the car took place at the Geneva Motor Show. It is curious that the development of the Koenigsegg Jesko was practically not advertised, since the head of the company, Christian Koenigsegg, wanted to surprise his father.

The new model is based on the Agera RS modification and, in fact, is its evolution.

In terms of appearance, both cars are quite similar to each other, while Jesko was offered two versions at once — with a simplified aerodynamic body kit and a maximum one, which is notable for a massive front splitter and a huge wing.

It is reported that at 250 km / h, the hypercar generates 800 kg of downforce, and at 275 km / h — already 1,000 kg.

At maximum speed (482 km / h), the vehicle has a downforce of 1.4 tons. The active aerodynamic components (rear spoiler and underbody flaps) are controlled by the Autoskin electro-hydraulic system. It also opens doors, hood and adjusts ground clearance.

The Koenigsegg Jesko CFRP monocoque is 40 mm longer and 22 mm taller, which has improved the level of comfort in the compartment. Plus, the driver and passenger services are offered wireless charging for smartphones, multimedia with Apple CarPlay support, climate control and touchpads on the steering wheel.

Jesco is powered by a modified 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a new «flat» crankshaft. Because of this decision, the Swedes had to replace the passive engine mounts with active ones, as well as use the overthrown light pistons and connecting rods.

At the same time, both turbochargers received a 20-liter carbon-fiber air receiver, as well as a small electric compressor, which is designed to negate turbo delays.

With regard to performance, when using 95th gasoline, the engine develops 1,280 hp, but when refueling with E85 biofuel, its output reaches 1,600 «horses».

Peak torque is 1,500 Nm, with 1,000 Nm available from 2,700 to 6,170 rpm. This unit works in conjunction with a nine-speed robotized transmission of its own design, which has as many as seven «wet» clutches, in the complete absence of synchronizers.

The company nicknamed her «Light Speed ​​Transmission» (LST). According to the developers, such a box is capable of changing gears «at the speed of light.»

Loud words, however, such a transmission does its job really quickly, allowing you to engage any of the gears without intermediate shifts.

The claimed switching time is only 20-30 milliseconds (for comparison, on a Lamborghini Aventador, the ISR robot switches in 50 milliseconds).

Also worth noting is the low weight of the LST — only 90 kg. It is interesting that if the driver pulls the steering column paddle all the way, then the electronics itself will choose the most suitable stage for acceleration.

The company calls a similar system Ultimate Power on Demand (or simply UPOD).

Koenigsegg Jesko also received reinforced wishbones and Ohlins adaptive dampers, equipped with controllers and electronics designed by the Swedes.

To prevent the car from “crouching” during acceleration, the developers installed a horizontal shock absorber of the Triplex system on the front axle. In the company’s lineup, the new Koenigsegg Jesko will replace the Agera RS and Regera models, and its circulation will be 125 copies, that is, it will become the most massive car of the Swedish brand.

The release of the hypercar will begin only in 2021, and its price starts at $ 3 million.

In other words, we are talking about «bare» carbon fiber, and the body made of this material was estimated by the Swedes at 443,400 dollars (almost 32.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate). By the way, for that kind of money, you can buy a new Lamborghini Aventador.

When choosing this option, the future owner of the hypercar received a car with a body made of «pure» carbon fiber, from which Koenigsegg experts manually remove the layer of epoxy remaining after baking the outer panels in an autoclave.

This process is very laborious, since the slightest error during polishing can violate the noble pattern. Due to the lack of lacquer coating, the body made of «bare» carbon fiber is considered to be more resistant to scratches.

Plus, this material looks different than ordinary carbon, since the light is reflected here not from the entire surface, but from each thread separately, which contributes to creating an unusual visual effect.

There are many other expensive options in Jesco’s official configurator. In particular, if a client wants to paint the car in Apple Red or Orange Sweet Mandarin, then he will have to pay $ 63,300 (about 4.6 million rubles), while the color palette also contains more exclusive green, red, blue and purple shades. worth $ 346,100 (more than 25.0 million rubles).

Note that collector Manny Khoshbin just configured his Jesko through the automaker’s website, choosing several paid options at once.
