The luxury «twins» of Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs — Lexus LX are no less actively preparing for the upcoming update, since, like the Kruzaks, they are basically versions of the distant 2007 that have gone through three successive restyling.
The timing of the release of the modernized Lexus LX 2020 model year, as well as the degree of depth of this modernization (new generation or conventional facelift) remain the main questions that are regularly asked to the Japanese, and which have not been answered for the whole last year.
And yet, collected from numerous sources, including insider (Japanese edition of Best Car, etc.), information and the latest news suggest that these SUVs will at least seriously update the line of engines in the very near future.
It is also known that the new Lexus LX 2021 will retain the frame structure, where there will be more light and strong steels.
They will help keep the weight of the car at a reasonable level, taking into account the emergence of new gasoline-electric modifications, where, in addition to the main internal combustion engine, electric motors will be located on the axles.
There is also information that the current petrol version of the LX 570 will be renamed the LX 600, which can be regarded as an increase in the power of the used power plants.
It will definitely not do without a thorough transformation of the exterior: for example, a Japanese SUV can get a different radiator grille — a larger one, different optics that «move» higher and begin to go more into the front fenders, as well as new bumpers, which, for sure, will change the length of the car.
In the meantime, the actual dimensions of the Lexus LH with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. make up:
• length — 5065 mm;
• width — 1981 mm;
• height –1864 mm;
• ground clearance — 225 mm.
As for the «cart», back in early 2019, Best Car journalists announced the start of work on a deep modernization of the current URJ frame platform, but Toyota representatives called this information «speculation».
Technical stuffing
The main discussed news about the new Lexus LX 2021 is the abandonment of V-shaped «eights» in favor of «sixes» with an increase in engine power output.
The previous 4.6-5.7-liter units will be a thing of the past, and the base will be the 415-horsepower V35A-FTS unit currently used on the LS 500 sedan.
The displacement of this engine is 3.5 liters, and two turbochargers help it deliver such a solid power. The transmission for it will be the old automatic transmission with 10 steps.
Both the new Land Cruiser and the new Lexus LX will get the same basic hybrid engine, powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6.
Together with two electric motors, such a unit will offer an output of 359 hp. pp., as she demonstrates on the LS500H sedan.
In this case, we are talking about a system called the Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System, which is a unique development of the Japanese, who decided to equip it with a four-speed automatic «transmission».
In the classic version, the hybrid includes an internal combustion engine, a motor-generator, a traction electric motor and a planetary power divider acting as a variator. According to the Japanese, the additional «checkpoint» allows the hybrid to work more intensively and more productively.
The fact that the Japanese are in no hurry to officially show their new developments or to announce at least an approximate date for the premiere of a new Land Cruiser or LX is evidenced by the ongoing work on the current versions of SUVs.
Just a few months ago, Lexus engineers released the LX570 in Sport. This version only comes with a seven-seater body and offers a serious facelift: a new radiator grille, new bumpers with more aggressive plastic, more chrome decor and new ten-spoke 21-inch wheels.
The equipment of the LX570 Sport will include the options available in the Luxury package, i.e., in addition to the redesigned design, the SUV will be equipped with four-zone climate control, a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, Mark Levinson speakers with 19 speakers, etc.
There are also exclusive shades of leather upholstery — «Cabernet black» and «moon-white».

News on the launch date of the serial production of the 2021 Lexus LX should be expected no earlier than the middle of next year.
