Mazda CX-5 Kuro Edition 2022. The 2022 Mazda CX-5 is likely to be the latest version of the popular Japanese model.

The manufacturer is preparing this crossover for a planned change of generations, after which the car may come out under the index CX-50.

But while the transition to a new generation has not happened, the Mazda CX-5 offers buyers in Russia 2 branded engines of 2 and 2.5 liters combined with all-wheel drive.

The Japanese model is available in our country for a minimum of 1.811 million rubles, which is comparable to the price of the VW Tiguan and Nissan X-Trail.

Like the above crossovers, the Mazda CX-5 in the basic version is characterized by «poor» equipment.

But for extra charge, the list of onboard equipment of Japanese model expands due to all-around cameras, premium stereo system, leather seats and a lot of driving assistants.

Technical characteristics

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 has retained the previous design. In particular, the crossover has not received a new body, which is why it, judging by the photo, does not differ from the version that came out about six years ago.

At the same time, the company Mazda seriously enough revised the configuration, which resulted in increased prices for the Japanese model.

But the technical characteristics of the crossover also remained unchanged.

The basis of the Japanese model is the same: McPherson struts are placed in the front, and multilever architecture is in the back.

Since recently the former are added with softer springs and lower arms that are fixed to the subframe with hydraulic supports.

At the same time, the manufacturer has previously increased the body’s torsional rigidity, thereby improving the level of passive safety.

Mazda CX-5 features include the fact that the steering rack is rigidly fixed to the subframe. This improves the informativeness of the car and increases the sensitivity.

In Russia, the Japanese model is offered with the same «atmospheric» engines SkyActive series, as in the past few years.

As standard, the crossover is equipped with a 2-liter motor, which develops no more than 150 horsepower and 210 N*m of torque.

This unit is combined with an automatic transmission with six speeds, consumes no more than 6.8 liters and provides acceleration to 100 km/h in 10 seconds.

Optionally, under the hood of the Mazda CX-5 is placed a 2.5-liter 194-horsepower non-turbocharged engine, which produces up to 257 N*m.

Together with this motor, the crossover gains 100 km/h in 9 seconds and consumes up to 7.2 liters of gasoline on average. Both engines are optionally available with all-wheel drive.

In some countries, Mazda CX-5 is also presented with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel motor. Its declared power is 175 hp with a maximum torque of 420 N*m. A 6-speed manual transmission is available with this unit.

The total length of Japanese model reaches 4550 mm, width — 1840 mm, height — 1680 mm.

The wheelbase size is 2700 mm, and the clearance varies from 210 to 215 mm depending on the modification.

Options and prices

Since recently, the Mazda MX-5 is presented in Russia with five configurations.

The manufacturer has added a modification Century Edition, which became the top for the crossover.

Drive
The Japanese model in the basic version is priced in Russia at 1.811 million rubles.

Together with this version, a part-size spare wheel, a stereo system with four speakers, air conditioning, four electronic windows, front seats with electric heating and central locking with remote control are supplied by default.

Design

Japanese crossover body design is made in the corporate style of Mazda, which has not changed over the past few years.

The car stands out for its sporty and sleek body with its smooth transitions and voluminous details.

At the front, the Mazda CX-5 has a narrow headlamp with a round headlight in the center. In the center is a large radiator grille with a fine mesh and a wide metal edging.

The front bumper is complemented by a thin strip of air intake, which is narrower closer to the edges. In terms of the nature of performance, the rear optics do not differ much from the head.

The interior of Japanese model is implemented a minimalistic approach to design.

Inside the crossover there is a compact sensor monitor, taken out close enough to the windshield, and a large climate control unit with physical keys.

The transmission tunnel is at a noticeable angle to the center console. This configuration of the cabin provides it with good ergonomics.
