Mercedes-AMG One 2021: one of the fastest and most comfortable hypercars.
Work on the Mercedes-AMG One 2021 hypercar has been underway since 2017, but until now, the Stuttgart automakers are not ready to present a serial version of the car.

This is partly due to the fact that the project is not a restyling of any previously existing car, and therefore every element of a sports car, in particular, the power unit used on Formula-1 cars, must be adapted to the peculiarities of «civilian» operation.

However, the company’s management says that the new model is almost finished and will reach the buyers who pre-ordered it next year.

Exterior

Judging by the photo, the car will have an insanely aggressive, stylish appearance that embodies all the trends of modern automotive fashion.

Most of the design elements were handcrafted by specialists from several countries, which ultimately led to the emergence of a streamlined cockpit with a very modern design.

The front end of the new body looks very fast due to a narrow top, a significant part of which is occupied by a sloping windshield. It flows smoothly into a pseudo-hood, dotted with slots for air flow downward. T

he front of the bonnet tapers and tilts forward at the same time, revealing the huge chrome Mercedes emblem.

On the right and left, the wheel arches rise above the bonnet. The lighting technology is represented here by narrow LED strips, and the radiator grille is a combination of various geometric shapes from the thinnest strips of black and white plastic.

At the very bottom, you can see a large aerodynamic skirt and another medium-sized trapezoidal air intake.

In profile, the car looks very aggressive and fast. A short teardrop-shaped roof with a clearly visible air intake turns into small windows of a bizarre shape.

They are separated by a narrow glossy black counter. Below is a streamlined relief, highlighting just huge wheel arches, which can easily fit giant branded discs on low-profile tires.

And along the entire lower part of the sidewalls there is a luxurious body kit made of complex black plastic with air intake «crevices».

Small doors of this model rise up, and their handles are recessed into the body for improved aerodynamics. Luxurious sports mirrors with thin, curved legs complete the look of this part of the body.

The rear of the car is made in the best traditions of hypercars. It begins with a flat, simply huge glass, divided into two parts by a massive fin keel.

Behind this structure you can find a miniature imitation of the «trunk» lid with a constant aerodynamic bulge at the edge.

Below there are small strips of LED side lights, several volumetric slots for cooling the engine and brakes, covered with fine mesh nets, as well as huge trunks of the exhaust system inevitable for a supercar.

Another stylish aerodynamic skirt runs along the lower edge of the tailgate, abutting its edges against vertically oriented black plastic protective linings behind the rear wheels.

Interior

In the two-seater saloon of the new 2021 Mercedes-AMG One, you can easily feel like a pilot or a passenger in a spaceship.

Luxurious multimedia, an abundance of sensory elements on the console, low-lying chairs of an almost anatomical shape will allow you to fully enjoy the drive of fast driving.

Control and management bodies

Torpedo hypercar, made of several types of fine soft plastic with metal inserts, seems light, almost airy due to the lack of physical controls.

Here you can find only a few deflectors and two widescreen monitors: the first is a virtual instrument cluster, and the second is a full-fledged multimedia complex with touch controls.

The central tunnel includes a technical panel with an unusual speed switch, a parking brake and several compartments for things covered with curtains.

The armrest of the new model does not rise above the rest of the tunnel, but, rising smoothly, passes on the same level with them, which is facilitated by the literally «pressed» into the floor of the car seat.

The steering wheel is also worth mentioning, the rounded rectangle of which is made in the best traditions of Formula 1 and is equipped with all the signaling devices and switches necessary for comfortable driving.

Seats

There are only two seats in the car, they are sports «buckets» with precise position adjustments and simply gorgeous lateral support.

The manufacturer does not say anything about additional options, and it will be possible to evaluate the convenience of being in these very low, well-assembled seats only after a test drive of the supercar.

Specifications

For installation on the Mercedes-AMG One 2021, a «formula» six-cylinder 1.6-liter engine is being prepared, capable of showing about 1000 «horses» at the peak of power.

Basically, it is a hybrid, consisting of a gasoline engine and two electric motors serving each of the front wheels.

The transmission is supposed to be uncontested: an 8-speed sequential gearbox that evenly transfers engine forces to each wheel.

Such technical characteristics will allow the car to exchange the first «hundred» in just 2.5 seconds, but the resource of the power unit will be about 50,000 kilometers, and fuel consumption will exceed 30 liters per 100 kilometers at speeds up to 200 km / h.

Options and prices

The starting price of the car will be 2.26 million European currency units. How much the most expensive configuration options will cost is still unknown.

Sales start in Russia

Nothing is known about the release date of the new product in Russia, since the Mercedes-AMG One 2021 will be produced piece by piece by pre-order, and there is no information about whether any of the Russians ordered this hypercar.

Competing models

Of the currently produced hypercars, the closest to the new product from the Mercedes brand are the Audi R8, Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Regera, as well as the Lamborghini Aventador.
