Mercedes-Benz EQA introduced: electric SUV based on GLA In the second half of January twenty-first, the Germans presented the Mercedes-Benz EQA crossover, which is an electric version of the second generation GLA model.

The «green» Mercedes EQA is primarily distinguished from the latter by a different design of the front end of the body — the electric car has original headlights, and a stylish plug is used instead of the radiator grill.

Of the innovations in the stern, it is worth noting the appearance of a jumper between the rear lights, as well as the transfer of the platform under the license plate from the fifth door to the bumper.

It is reported that such adjustments to the appearance and the use of special wheels made it possible to reduce the drag coefficient Cd to 0.28 (-0.01).

At the same time, the interior of the electric modification turned out to be almost the same as on a regular Mercedes GLA.

Here, of the differences, it is worth noting only the modified interfaces of the digital dashboard and the multimedia system, plus the novelty has acquired a special Electric Intelligence navigation system.

The latter plots routes in such a way that on the way the electric car can always be recharged at one of the stations.

Note that for the new Mercedes EQA 2021, two exterior design options are offered — «Electric Art» and «AMG Line», plus the SUV can be ordered with black decor («Night Package») or in a special version «Edition 1» dedicated to the start of sales.

The latter sports 20-inch wheels and has a perforated leather interior that reveals blue Mercedes-EQ fabric through the holes.

Like a conventional GLA, the electric EQA is built on a modular MFA platform: MacPherson struts are used in the front, and a multi-link design is used in the back.

The overall length of the crossover is 4 463 mm (+ 53), the size of its wheelbase is 2 729, the width is 1 834, the height has increased to 1 620 (+ 9). The trunk volume is 340 liters (1,320 liters with the rear seats folded), the curb weight is 2,040 kg.

The Mercedes EQA debuts on the market as the EQA 250, equipped with one 190 hp electric motor. (375 Nm), as well as a traction battery with a capacity of 66.5 kWh.

It is reported that such a car can accelerate from zero to hundreds in 8.9 seconds, reaching speeds of up to 160 km / h.

The power reserve of the modification is 426 km (according to the WLTP cycle). With an 11 kW on-board charger, it takes about 5 hours to recharge the battery from 10 to 100%.

If you use a «column» of direct current with a power of up to 100 kW, then you can replenish the battery supply from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes.

Additionally, the Germans announced a more powerful twin-engine version of the model with a recoil of over 270 forces, and a long-range modification with a power reserve of over 500 km is also in development.

The list of basic equipment for the electric Mercedes EQA 250 is represented by 18-inch wheels, ambient interior lighting with a palette of 64 colors, MBUX multimedia with navigation, full-LED headlights with automatic switching of high beam to low beam, seven airbags, automatic braking and lane-keeping systems, and also an electric drive of the fifth door.

Serial production of the electric Mercedes-Benz EQA was set up at a plant in Rastatt, Germany, while the first «live» cars will appear in the salons of European dealers from February 4, 2021 at a price of 47,540 euros (4.2 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

In the future, the production of «electric trains» for the Chinese market will be established at an enterprise in Beijing, while deliveries of such a SUV to Russia are not planned.
