Mercedes-Maybach S-Class 2021.

The new S-Class in the back of W223 debuted in early September, and now the most luxurious version of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class with the Z223 index is presented.

This model was created on the basis of the classic sedan, but differs from it in the size of the wheelbase, decor and an assortment of «comfortable» options.

Sales of the new Maybach in some key markets will start before the end of this year. Most likely, Russia will also be included in the number of these markets, since every fourth S-Class is purchased from us in the version of Maybach.

Prices will appear closer to the start of sales of the model, but you can focus on the actual cost — this is 11 million rubles.

At home, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will only be available for purchase in the spring of 2021. In other European countries, the wait will take even longer — until summer.

Body design

The new Maybach looks noticeably different from the usual S-class. It has an original grille with 3D vertical slats and a hood with a chrome center rib.

The revised profile is given by widened rear doors and additional windows near the rear roof pillars. The racks themselves are decorated with the Maybach logo. Another hallmark of a top sedan may be the two-tone body color available as an option.

The door handles of the model are retractable by default, and the wheel arches are fitted with exclusive design wheels measuring 19-21 inches. Instead of standard diode optics for a surcharge, high-tech Digital Light headlights with 1.3 million micromirrors are installed, which are able to project prompts in the form of pointers and warning signs onto the road.

The body length of the new Mercedes Maybach sedan in 2021 is 5469 mm, width — 1921 mm, height — 1510 mm. The distance between the axles is 3396 mm, which is 180 mm more than the long wheelbase S-Class.

Interior

The salon of the novelty is largely unified with the usual «eska», but the equipment and decoration are even richer here. So, the rear seats are exclusively separate with an adjustable backrest angle from 19 to 43.5 degrees.

As an option, the seats are equipped with a heated neck and shoulder area, as well as a support with a foot massage function. In addition, a seat belt extender is available that automatically lifts the seat belt when the passenger begins to reach for it.

On request, the car is equipped with double cup holders with heating and cooling, a refrigerator with adjustable temperature, pull-out tables. To control the entertainment complex MBUX, a tablet is designed to be placed in a special tray on the armrest.

The Maybach front panel has a standard S-class architecture. The console houses a 12.8-inch OLED display, and in front of the driver is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with 3D graphics.

Ambient lighting in the cabin is active and animated, for example, at the entrance, passengers are greeted with a special light show. For the first time, adaptive lighting appeared in the rear row of seats, allowing you to adjust the intensity and direction of the light beam.

On request, the rear doors of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are equipped with a servo drive. It can be controlled in several ways, including using displays.

Doors will not open if Exit Warning detects interference in the critical area. The Safe Exit Warning is just one of many electronic assistants. Well, besides them, the car gets up to 18 airbags, including front airbags for the second row.

Specifications Mercedes-Maybach S-Class 2021

From the start of sales, Maybach will be offered in two versions. The S 580 variant is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine with 489 hp. and 700 Nm.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 models are powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 unit that generates 630 hp. and 1000 Nm. Both engines are complemented by a 48-volt EQ Boost starter generator with 20 hp. (180 Nm).

The gearbox is in any case automatic 9G-Tronic, and only four-wheel drive (previously the S 650 version had a rear-wheel drive version).

The suspension of the new Maybach S-Class sedan in the «base» is pneumatic, but hydropneumatics E-Active Body Control with a stereo camera that continuously scans the road to detect irregularities is available for an extra charge.

Also in the list of options is a fully steerable chassis with a rear wheel steering angle of 4.5 or 10 degrees. The second configuration reduces the turning radius by two meters.
