The Germans do not protrude into the details, but it is known that the sedan also has polycarbonate laminated glass, which is about a centimeter thicker than standard ones.

Plus, the car has runflet tires. Among other equipment, it is worth noting the presence of a fire extinguishing system and the function of an emergency supply of fresh air to the cabin, which can help out if the cabin is smoke-filled.

The very same interior of the armored Mercedes S 680 Guard 4MATIC can have four or five seats.

In terms of design, it is identical to the usual S-class, which means that premium leather, wood decor and other attributes of luxury prevail in the finishing here.

In this case, the novelty can be equipped with a refrigerator. Apparently in case the passengers who survived the attack want to celebrate their miraculous rescue.

The armored Mercedes is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that develops 612 hp. and 830 Nm.

Apparently, the latter works in conjunction with a nine-speed automatic and proprietary all-wheel drive transmission.

It is reported that the Germans need 51 days to manufacture one copy of the S 680 Guard 4MATIC, while such a car can be bought for about 500,000 euros (43.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has got an armored version of the S 680 Guard 4Matic.

According to the company, this is the most secure luxury car in existence: it has the maximum level of ballistic protection for passenger cars of the VPAM VR10 standard, which provides for the installation of 10-layer glass and armor with a thickness of 18-23 millimeters.

As part of the presentation of the novelty, the automaker demonstrated how strong the glass of the sedan is — their thickness is 10 centimeters instead of the previous six centimeters from its predecessor.

Another innovation is hydraulic power windows, which have replaced pneumatic ones.

The sedan is shod in special Michelin PAX tires with run-flat technology: even with damaged wheels, the car will travel at least 30 kilometers.

Other useful options include a fire extinguishing system, a built-in oxygen tank that provides an autonomous supply of air to the cabin in case of emergency, flagpoles and special signals.

Among the improvements mentioned are a reinforced suspension and a modified transmission.

The novelty is set in motion by a V12 biturbo engine with a volume of six liters, which produces 612 horsepower.

With such an engine, the armored S-Class weighing 4.3 tons is capable of speeds of 190 kilometers per hour.

Acceleration time to «hundreds» has not been announced.

The previous S 600 Guard (V12 6.0, 530 hp and 830 Nm) with a driver and an almost full fuel tank weighed 4160 kilograms and accelerated to 100 in 7.7 seconds.

There are four and five-seat versions to choose from and, for the first time, the S 680 Guard is available with 4Matic all-wheel drive.

In Germany, the novelty was estimated at 547 thousand euros (47.5 million rubles).

German journalists report that the S 680 Guard 4Matic will be the only armored S-Class of the current generation.

This means that the automaker has no plans to release a protected Pullman Guard, although the predecessor had such a version.
