Rare rally Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 can be yours: if you have $ 30 million.

On March 21, 2021, an auction will take place at the Aguttes On Wheels event, in which a rare Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 will be sold.

It is a road modification built to homologate the Group B rally racing sports car. This sports car was first presented to the public at the 1984 Geneva Motor Show.

Subsequently, the French produced 219 of these cars, and almost all of them were painted in gray «Winchester Gray».

Only four examples of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 received a white body paint with racing stripes in the style of a rally sports car.

They were made at the request of the head of the Peugeot Talbot Sport division, Jean Todt.

The top manager kept one of them, and the owners of the remaining three cars became Peugeot president Jean Boillot, French racer Didier Pironi and chief engineer of Peugeot Sport Andre de Cortanze.

Note that visually the «rally» modification practically did not differ from the usual Peugeot 205, but structurally they were two completely different cars.

If the mass model had a front-mounted engine and front-wheel drive, then the limited version of the Turbo 16 was an all-wheel drive mid-engine car equipped with a four-cylinder sixteen-valve turbo engine with 200 hp.

The car put up for auction has chassis № 33. According to the organizers of the auction, this car just belonged to Jean Todt, but there are no documents confirming this fact.

The current owner notes that the car has retained the original engine and gearbox, although the power unit was additionally boosted to 230 «horses». The body is original here (except for stickers).

Recently, the sports car also underwent service, receiving a new fuel pump, timing belt, as well as Michelin TRX tires.

In general, this Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 with a mileage of only 9,900 km is in almost perfect condition, so the organizers of the auction expect to sell it at a price of 300,000 to 400,000 euros (from 26.1 to 34.8 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
