Porsche Mission R hints at an electric monocube of the future.

Announced before the Munich Motor Show, the mysterious Porsche has been named Mission R.

Remember, the Mission E concept foreshadowed a production electric Porsche Taycan sedan, the Mission E Cross Turismo was the Taycan Cross Turismo station wagon.

The new Mission show car is a prototype of a pure electric customer car, a look at a future Porsche for the monocoque.

The purely battery-powered Cayman could be similar, and the hybrid Lehmann sports prototype LMDh seems to have nothing to do with it at all.

And yet, the experience of creating the concept’s units and systems will come in handy in the development of these Porsche.

All-wheel drive coupe with two electric motors in qualification mode has 800 kW (1,088 hp), which allows picking up the first hundred faster than 2.5 seconds.

The top speed exceeds 300 km/h. In racing mode, a pair of electric motors produces a total of up to 500 kW (680 hp) of constant power and does not overheat. Like the battery, they are directly oil cooled.

The peak output of each engine is separately higher: the front engine has 320 kW (435 hp) and the rear engine has 480 kW (653 hp).

Porsche estimates that the 80 kWh battery is enough for a sprint race, and even at the end the output of the engines will not decrease.

Developers say that the Mission R will do laps in the same time as the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 on the circuits.

The suspension here is McPherson all-round, and the battery and power electronics fit behind the interior, where the Cayman had an internal combustion engine.

After charging the coupe from 900-volt technology Porsche Turbo Charging (from 5% to 80% in 15 minutes at up to 340 kW), the driver goes to the ring in a laconic cockpit with a small display on the steering wheel and additional screens on the steering column (output images from three rear cameras, left, right and central) and the right of the steering wheel (shows biometric data).

The pilot will use active aerodynamics (drag reduction system DRS with moving slats in the front air intakes, dual adjustable wing).
