The model debuted on the home market in early November and is already available for purchase at a price of $ 32,000 (2.4 million rubles), but the novelty will arrive in Europe only in March 2021.

Body design and dimensions
The new Rexton is announced as a fifth-generation car, although there are not so many improvements compared to its predecessor in 2017. Some of the changes affect the appearance.
So, during the modernization, the SUV received a new octagonal grille, retouched bumpers and optics with a different filling. At the rear, following the revision of the graphics of the reversing section lights, they were placed in separate blocks located along the edges of the bumper.
The dimensions of the model have undergone minimal adjustments. The height increased by 25 mm and amounted to 1825 mm (including roof rails). The length and width remained the same — 4850 and 1920 mm, respectively.
The distance between the axles remained at 2865 mm, and the ground clearance did not exceed 224 mm. The size of the Rexton rims for the European market will range from 17 to 20 inches.
Equipment
The interior of the updated SUV is distinguished by higher-quality finishing materials and improved equipment.
The main acquisition of the model is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with three data display options. The functionality of the standard media center has also been improved, which displays information on a 9-inch display and easily interacts with mobile devices (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols are supported).
Other innovations include the introduction of a joystick for gearshift control instead of a conventional control lever and the introduction of a new four-spoke steering wheel.
In Europe, the new Sang Yong Rexton will be offered in both five- and seven-seater versions. Cars with two rows of seats have a luggage compartment with a volume of 784 liters, which when the rear backs are lowered turns into 1977 liters.
Passengers in the second row have a 12V outlet and two USB ports for charging gadgets. The number of airbags in expensive trim levels reaches nine.
The list of electronic assistants relying on the new Rexton includes adaptive cruise control, frontal collision avoidance, lane tracking, lane change assistance, automatic headlight switching, and interference detection when reversing. Another SUV can be equipped with a system that facilitates maneuvering with a trailer.
SsangYong Rexton 2021 Specifications
In most markets for the new Sanyeng Rexton, an improved e-XDi 2.2 diesel engine with 202 hp is announced. and 440 Nm.
The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In some countries, the model will also be offered with a 2.0 GDI petrol four, developing 225 hp. and 350 Nm. The transmission here is either 6MKPP or 6AKPP.
The SUV is still available with two types of drive: rear and all-wheel drive. Part-time 4WD scheme provides for rigid connection of the front axle and the presence of a reduction row.
The choice of the operating mode of the drive (2H, 4H or 4L) is carried out by a washer on the central tunnel.
