Toyota Alphard 2020 is a new minivan with the highest level of comfort.
3rd generation Toyota Alphard made a splash. The minivan entered our market in 2018 and almost immediately appeared in government car fleets. It is understandable, that level of comfort and onboard functionality in the market was not offered by any of the eminent manufacturers, and then at a fairly modest price list.

In 2020, the Japanese quietly released a restyling and even managed to start it for Russian dealers. What is interesting there and how much it costs, we will consider below.

Technical stuffing

In terms of technology, as expected, everything remained in place. There is frankly nothing to change here. The proprietary modular platform includes:

As for the motor range, there is no great variety here. In Russia, Toyota Alphard is generally sold only with an atmospheric 3.5-liter V6 with 300 hp. So a minivan will definitely not work for a taxi.

In Japan (the only country of assembly) a hybrid configuration is also available with a 2.4-liter 152 hp unit. A small electrical attachment is located on the rear axle, thereby providing the minivan with four-wheel drive.

Our equipment will please with good dynamic characteristics (within the class, of course). With a mass of 2255 kg, Alphard accelerates to a hundred in 8.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is 200 km / h. On the combined cycle, the car consumes 10.6 liters.

Onboard equipment

Alphard is positioned as a minivan with the maximum level of comfort, so in terms of onboard equipment, everything is in order, not to mention the finishing materials.

There are three configurations on the Russian market: Prestige, Lux and Executive lounge.

The top version includes:

LED optics and fog lights front and rear + add. stop signal;
Side mirrors with rotation dubbing, electrically adjustable and heated;
Electric sliding doors on both sides;
Power tailgate;
Double sunroof;

A multimedia system with a 9-inch touchscreen, 2 monitors at the back, navigation, Hands Free support, Wi-Fi and JBL speakers with 17 points.

Safety is represented by systems: ABS, EBD, ESP, BAC, TSC, HAC, front and rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors, 4 airbags + curtains + add. driver’s knee cushion, all-round monitoring and cruise control (1st generation).

Body and dimensions

In terms of appearance, the restyling stands out noticeably against the background of its predecessor. The massive chrome grille has remained the same, but the new optics pattern is now emphasized by additional chrome trims.

The side diffusers now also feature chrome, and the lower splitter has become more pronounced and received a decorative mesh.

There is also more chrome on the side. Additional moldings have appeared on the sills and around the perimeter of the window frame.

At the back, the story is the same: new lantern filling, a large chrome trim between, and another molding at the bottom. The overhanging spoiler has also become more massive.

By the way, the minivan is sent for export with its own logo of the Alphard division, but in Japan the model comes out with traditional Toyota nameplates.

The ground clearance for Russia was never increased. The ground clearance remained at its 160 mm. The wheels are also offered in the same radius — R18.

Salon

Well, now about the main thing. As you can see above, the on-board equipment remained the same, and all the changes were made to the redesign of the architecture of the torpedo, the central tunnel and the front console, and the manufacturer also revised the finishing materials.

The Japanese finally abandoned the collective farm wooden linings (in fact, it was plastic) and switched to aluminum linings.

Also, now there is more suede in the cabin (in the top version), the touchscreen has increased, the interface has been replaced, a new dashboard and multifunction steering wheel have been installed.

The seats are also new, although the profile is the same: developed lateral support, fixed head restraints, combined trim with perforations.
There are two captain’s chairs in the back, there is a pull-out table, coat hooks, sun blinds and multimedia monitors, and in the middle there is a climate control unit, cup holders, etc.

The interior is available in black, gray and beige. It is also noted that during the restyling, serious work was carried out on sound insulation. The results can be judged later.

Competitors

As such, Alphard has no competitors. In addition to it, there are Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Volkswagen Multivan on our market, but none of them offers such a level of comfort, as well as an atmospheric 300 hp engine.

The Japanese do not bring a minivan to Europe, but in the USA, Alphard will have rivals in the person of the Honda Stepwgn and Mitsubishi Delica.

Price and start date of sales

As mentioned at the beginning, the new product is already available from Russian dealers. The minivan is assembled and transported directly from Japan.
The cheapest option (Prestige equipment) will cost 4.76 million rubles, the top Executive lounge is estimated at 5.1 million.
