The big sedan Toyota Avalon is retiring after the 2022 model year.

Toyota Motor will retire its largest sedan, the Avalon, in 2022.

And there will be no successor to the fifth-generation sedan The Avalon will simply go into history after the 2022 model year.

Toyota’s North American office has already sent out an information letter to components suppliers, where they confirmed stopping production of the Avalon after 2022 model year.

Today, the automaker announced Toyota Avalon pricing for the 2022 model year along with several lineup changes.

The 2022 Toyota Avalon starts at $36,375 (not including the $1,025 surcharge), $250 more expensive than last year’s model.

The full-size sedan is no longer available in all-wheel drive options, while the TRD Sport trim has also been eliminated from the lineup.

The good news for potential buyers is the addition of new safety features as standard, including the updated Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ package (cruise control with dynamic radar, lane-tracking assistance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, etc.),

And the addition of a reminder system in the rear seats.

Like last year, the Avalon is available with gas and hybrid powertrains. The 3.5-liter V6 produces 301 hp and 362 Nm of torque combined with an eight-speed direct-shift automatic transmission that sends power to the front axle.

The 2022 lineup includes six trim levels, including the XSE Nightshade Edition, which visually features gloss black accents, 19-inch wheels and a rear diffuser.

Inside, options vary between the base XLE with SofTex upholstery and «engineered wood» trim, a limited amount of Yamaha-made perforated leather and real wood, and the Touring with SofTex/Ultrasuede perforated upholstery and aluminum trim.
