Toyota Tundra 2022.

The Japanese have unveiled the Toyota Tundra 2022: the third-generation pickup truck.

In September twenty-first the Japanese have presented a large pickup truck Toyota Tundra 2022 of the third generation.

Car is developed in the States by three engineering centers of the company from Michigan, Arizona and California. Nothing is left here from its predecessor, which was in the conveyor for 14 years — we are faced with a completely new car.

The design of the pickup was made in the «Technical muscle» style, which was developed by California studio Calty.

The new Toyota Tundra 2022 is distinguished by a massive grille, muscular hood, a lot of design facets of the exterior, complex shape headlights, vertical taillights and stylish moldings over the wheel arches on the sides.

The interior of the pickup has an angular dashboard, and the base model is equipped with an analog dashboard and 8.0-inch screen of the multimedia system.

In expensive model’s packages are put a virtual dashboard with a huge 14.0-inch monitor of the media system.

The latter is completely new and works five times faster than before, plus there is an update function «over the air», Wi-Fi and 4G to connect up to ten devices, as well as support for voice commands (to activate you can use several phrases to choose: Hey, Hi, Hello or OK Toyota).

The new Toyota Tundra 2022 is available only with large, double-row cabs: the standard Double Cab, or the larger CrewMax.

In the first case, the cargo area comes at 2.0 or 2.5 meters, and in the second — at 1.7 or 2.0 meters.

In terms of equipment, the base model is provided with a complex of electronic assistants Safety Sense 2.5, providing adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function and automatic braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition.

The list of options includes a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats.

Technical Specifications

As in the case of the new Land Cruiser 300, the third-generation Toyota Tundra pickup has lost its V8 engines, so under the hood now there is a 3.4-liter twin-supercharged V6, which was named i-Force.

It develops 394 hp and 649 Nm and is paired with a 10-band automatic transmission.

The drive can be rear-wheel drive or hard-switching all-wheel drive with a downshift.

Also for the car prepared a hybrid version — here between the engine and gearbox is built electric motor — for powering the latter is responsible nickel-metal hydride traction battery located under the rear sofa.

Total output of the installation is claimed at the level of 443 hp and 790 Nm, but the battery capacity is not specified.

It is known that when driving on electric power the truck can not accelerate more than 29 km/h.

Cabin of the new Tundra is still steel, while the cargo area is composite with aluminum reinforcements.

All elements of the new frame got a box section, and crossbars are twice thicker than before — this greatly increased the overall rigidity of the vehicle.

Maximum payload of Toyota Tundra 2022 increased to 880 kg (+ 11%), and the towed weight is 5.4 tons (+ 17.6%).

As before, the model uses a double wishbone suspension at the front and a continuous axle at the rear, but now it is suspended on springs instead of the former leaf springs.

By default, the chassis has two-tube shock absorbers, but for an extra charge, you can order adaptive suspension or air bags on the rear axle, which allow you to change the ground clearance (available positions Normal, Low and High).

And also there are some options from TRD division.

The TRD Sport package offers lowered spring suspension.

The TRD Off-Road set includes Bilstein single-tube shock absorbers, locking rear differential, off-road modes of ride electronics, and Crawl Control cruise control.

The TRD Pro variant features Fox shock absorbers with outboard reservoirs and 28 mm more ground clearance, reinforced front stabilizer bars, off-road chocks and additional underride protection.

Start of sales of the new Toyota Tundra 2022 in the States is scheduled for the end of the twenty-first year, equipment and prices will be announced later.

Pickup production will be launched at the brand’s plant in Texas, and next year off-road Toyota Sequoia of next generation will be presented on the basis of this model.
