Volkswagen Sagitar 2022.

The updated Volkswagen Sagitar sedan: a different interior for the Jetta.

Last summer the Volkswagen Jetta sedan underwent a restyling, which was very modest and hardly touched the interior.

But for the Chinese market there is a more serious program of modernization.

Here the updated Volkswagen Sagitar is presented, that is a long-wheelbase variant of the Jetta.

Let’s remind, the distance between the axles in Chinese model is increased by 45 mm (up to 2731 mm).

And with new, more «chubby» bumpers Sagitar has added another 38 mm in length, and now it surpasses the euro-Passat we know: 4791 mm vs. 4775 mm!

The new front bumper is the same as the American Jetta, but in addition Sagitar has got richly chromed radiator grille and original rear lights with three-dimensional pattern.

And in the interior there is a new front panel with a decor in the form of «stretched» ventilation deflectors. And if Jetta still has maximum eight-inch screen of the media system, Sagitar now flaunts 12-inch touchscreen, which rises above the front panel.

The touch-screen climate control unit appeared last year without any link to the restyling.

Junior engine 1.2 TSI (116 hp) will not be in the range anymore, and to replace the engine 1.4 TSI (150 hp) came a new turbo four 1.5 TSI (160 hp) family EA211 Evo, the production of which recently began in China.

This engine has a turbocharger with variable geometry of the guide van and can run on the economical Miller cycle.

The gearbox is the same — a seven-speed «robot» DSG.

By the way, the Sagitar has independent rear suspension, while the Jetta is equipped with a «beam» (multilever is only for the powerful GLI version).

The updated Sagitar is already on the conveyor belt of joint venture FAW-Volkswagen, the prices start from 21 thousand dollars.

By the way, in China, the Jetta has another relative — a sedan called Volkswagen Lavida Plus, produced by the joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen.

In terms of dimensions, it is similar to the Jetta, but it has its own design and powertrain set, and restyling is yet to come.
