Volkswagen has expanded the range of its new Taigo crossover with a very interesting version with a manual transmission.
The model is already on sale in Spain with a gasoline 1.0-liter TSI engine rated at 110 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission.
The new version of the model is assembled directly in Spain in Navara.
Volkswagen produces its best-selling Polo and T-Cross at the same plant.
At the time the Taigo began collecting pre-orders, the offer was quite sparse. And now VW has brought the new modification to market.
So, the new version under the hood of the crossover has a 1.0-liter gasoline TSI engine with 110 hp and 200 N*m of torque.
Earlier it was available only with 7-speed double-clutch robotized transmission. But now this motor can be connected to a 6-speed manual.
The VW Taigo with such equipment is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds.
And its maximum speed is 191 km/h. The average fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer does not exceed 5.4 liters per «hundredth», and CO2 emissions are 123 g/km. This engine, like all the others, has a front-wheel drive configuration.
Despite the new powertrain, the Taigo range still consists of two trim levels — Life and R-Line.
The first configuration includes the following equipment: 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, railings, several airbags, leather braided steering wheel, fog lights, tire pressure sensor, emergency braking system, 2-zone climate control, hill start assistant, driver fatigue detector, adaptive cruise control with speed limiter, digital instrument panel and other services.
The R-Line modifications add a special exterior package, R-Line fabric upholstery, brushed stainless steel pedals, sports front seats, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster and more.
The cost of the car after the upgrade ranges from 23,910 to 26,760 euros, the equivalent of 1.97 — 2.2 million rubles.
For the first time about a new compact crossover Volkswagen Taigo talked back in March 2021, then there was the first announcement of the car.
A little later, the manufacturer has officially disclosed the technical data of the novelty, as well as photos of the crossover.
In fact it is a Volkswagen Nivus crossover, which the manufacturer has adapted to the conditions of Europe. Nivus crossover was originally produced for South America.
It is based on the MQB-A0 platform, similar to what is used for the T-Cross and the new Polo hatchback.
If you compare the European Taigo and American Nivus, the first has a different graphics of the rear stops, as well as changed in terms of design of the decorative elements of the body.
According to the manufacturer, the new Volkswagen Taigo is larger in size than the T-Cross.

Regardless of the configuration, all Volkswagen Taigo 2022 will be front-wheel drive.
Under the hood may be a three-cylinder turbocharged TSI, 1.0 liter.
The power of such an engine is 95 or 110 horses. Also a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine will be available, the volume of 1.5 liter, capacity of 150 horses.
In tandem with the units will be offered a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox, or 7-speed DSG robot.
