Alpina B4 Gran Coupe 2022.
The new Alpina B4 Gran Coupe 2022 has officially made its debut.
Alpina’s new B4 Gran Coupe is the first car from Alpina since it was revealed that BMW would take full control of the company.
The new car is based on the regular BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe, but with Alpina’s signature muscular look with a deep front and rear spoiler and a set of 20-spoke, 20-inch forged alloy wheels.
The weight of each wheel has been reduced to a relatively light 12 kg.
Externally the B4 Gran Coupe is distinguished by badges and plates with the Alpina branding, a diffuser with a pair of twin nozzles, small spoilers, special colors and stickers.
Also in Alpina were installed branded multi-spoke 20-inch wheels (each weighing 12 pounds), «shod» in Pirelli P Zero tires.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter S58 twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with 488 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive system.
And while the M3 Competition with its 503 hp leads the way in power ratings, its 650 Nm of torque output is way behind the Alpina.
The B4’s combination of power and traction is enough to accelerate the fastest Gran Coupe to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds versus 3.5 seconds for the M3 sedan, but while the M3 is limited to 250 km/h in the standard configuration, the Alpina is free to accelerate to 301 km/h.
The engine for the B4 Gran Coupe is borrowed from the B3 models: it is a three-liter inline gasoline S58, which was forcing to 500 horsepower and 729 Nm of torque.
It is paired with an 8-band automatic ZF adapted for increased power and the drive is a full xDrive.
The «Grand Coupe» from Alpina accelerates from a place up to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.7 seconds, while an ordinary Gran Coupe in M440i xDrive modification needs 4.7 seconds for the same exercise. Maximum speed is 301 kilometers per hour.
The car has an upgraded braking system and a proprietary sports suspension with reinforced anti-roll bars. A Comfort Plus mode is available, designed specifically for high-speed driving.
The interior features Lavalina leather on the seats and steering wheel and, of course, a plaque on the console just behind the iDrive controller indicating the car’s assembly number.
Alpina claims to have worked diligently to calibrate the suspension setup, which includes adaptive dampers and a custom Pirelli P Zero tire, to provide the best handling without sacrificing ride comfort.
In Europe, order collection has already begun. Customers should receive their cars this summer. In Germany, the model is priced at 91,800 euros.
