Changan CS35 Plus 2021: new body design and old engines.
The Changan CS35 Plus crossover entered the market in 2018 and is now sold in Russia at a price of 1,309,900 rubles.
Meanwhile, in China on January 19, an updated version of the model debuted, which is radically different from the previous one. She has fundamentally different body design, interior layout and equipment. Sales of new items in the Celestial Empire will start in the first quarter of this year at a price of 70 thousand yuan (795 thousand rubles).
In Russia, the surviving restyling Changan CS35 Plus will appear towards the end of 2021, at the same time the prices and configuration of the SUV will be announced.
New look
During the modernization, the Changan compact crossover, positioned as a competitor to the Geely Binyue (aka Coolray) and Geely Icon models, received a more modern and youthful design.
The completely redesigned nose of the car is now adorned with narrow headlight stripes, a solid inverted trapezoid grille and a decorative swept insert across the entire width of the body.
At the rear, attention is drawn to the new lights in the form of a solid strip from side to side and a modernized bumper equipped with two round tailpipes (previously the exhaust was hidden under the bumper).
Bright, contrasting linings at the front and on the lower edge of the doors add playfulness and excitement to the SUV, which should attract a young audience.
Of the external dimensions of the model, following the restyling results, only the length has changed. It increased to 4335 (+5 mm). The rest of the dimensions remained the same: width was 1825 mm, height — 1660 mm, wheelbase — 2600 mm.
Interior and equipment
The cabin of the 2021 Changan CS35 Plus is brand new. The front panel, the tunnel between the seats and even the door cards with armrests have been redesigned.
The driver’s area is now isolated, with a new three-spoke bevelled multifunction steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster at his disposal.
A large media center screen is mounted on top of the console, and underneath is a row of physical buttons for quick access to basic functions. The line of horizontal deflectors dividing the panel into two levels is finished in chrome.
The crossover package includes wireless smartphone charging, a sunroof and rims in several designs / colors. Interior finishing materials, according to the manufacturer, have become of better quality.

Changes in the exterior and interior are not supported by technical innovations. In the basic versions, the restyled SUV is still equipped with an atmospheric 1.6 GDI unit with a capacity of 117 hp, which works in conjunction with a manual transmission or a variator.
The same engine can have an output of 128 hp. and be combined with a 6-speed «automatic».
The top-end Changan CS35 Plus, as before, is driven by a 1.4-liter «turbo four» producing 160 hp. and 260 Nm. A 7-speed «robot» DCT works in tandem with the motor. All modifications of the crossover are exclusively front-wheel drive.
