Chery began sales of the long-awaited OMODA 5 crossover.

Chinese company Chery began taking orders for the new crossover OMODA 5. This was reported by the portal Njcar on Friday, April 8.

At the moment the car can be purchased only in the home market of China, but then it is planned to appear in our country.

Speaking about the exterior, the attention is attracted by a large grille, which at the same time has no clear boundaries.

The roof has a sloping shape to the rear, so you can talk about a coupe-shaped body.

There is a large spoiler on the trunk door, which gives the car a sporty look.

The taillights are combined into a monoblock. The interior of the car has a large screen, which combines the head unit and informative digital dashboard.

Crossover has quite modest dimensions, although due to the design does not look small. Its length reaches 4,400 mm with a distance between the axles of 2,630 mm.

As the power plant chose 1.6-liter engine, which is capable of delivering 197 horsepower.

It works in tandem with a robotized transmission. Note that the cost of the car in China turned out to be quite budgetary for such characteristics.

It costs 1,3 mln ruble for the base version and the top modification will cost already 1,9 mln ruble.

Moda 5 strongly differs from the representatives of the Tiggo lineup, mainly due to the design of the front.

There is a huge frameless radiator grille «a la Hyundai» with built-in LEDs.

Blocks of the main front optics are gathered on the sides, and above them there are fashionable running lights in the form of narrow strips.

The car also got bright decor emphasizing the roof line and sills, and in the massive rear all is built around a protrusion formed by the lights and the merging with them spoiler.

The new Chery style is called Art In Motion, and that’s how the Chinese company’s new parkettes will look from now on, including the full-size versions of the Omoda with the index «8».

Inside the new Chery crossover you can see the result of evolution of the Tiggo’s interior.

Now there are fashionable dual screens of «dashboard» and «multimedia» — both 12.3 inches diagonally.

The new truncated steering wheel got more plump front part, and the central tunnel and the front console got rid of an abundance of physical buttons.

Many of them disappeared, and the rest were replaced with touch-screen ones.

In general, the interior of the car became noticeably «cleaner», although the Chinese are not tired of experimenting with the design of door cards and the shape of the seats, including the color palette of the cabin upholstery and type of decor.

And, of course, Omoda immediately offers high-level equipment with high-quality leather and pleasing to the touch plastics.

The technical stuffing and characteristics

The only engine so far available for the Chery Omoda 5 2022, with which the model and debuts on the domestic market — this is taken from the older models Tiggo turbocharged unit of the new Kunpeng family of motors.

1.6-liter gasoline TGDI will produce at least 197 hp and 290 Nm (official data has not yet been disclosed) and it will be aided by a «robot» 7-DSG.

The Chinese have not given any other technical data, but claim that the first hybrid version will appear in the year of debut — in 2022.
