Chevrolet Colorado 2023: a new third generation pickup has been presented in the USA.

The premiere of the new (third) generation Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup has taken place in the U.S..

The Americans developed it independently for the home market, while the predecessor was created with Isuzu and initially sold in Asia, Australia and Latin America.

Externally, the model remains recognizable, although it received narrower headlights and slightly more angular wheel arches.

And the company prepared five options for the car, which further differ from each other both externally and technically.

The basic Work Truck (WT) version can be distinguished by black bumpers, minimal exterior decorations and steel wheels.

It is expected that it is primarily intended for corporate customers.

Next comes the LT version, which is already targeted at private customers. It has painted bumpers, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

All clearance of both versions of the model is claimed to be 200 mm.

Package Z71 (and all following versions) is already focused on off-road.

She draws attention with black wideners of wheel arches and 18-inch wheels.

It has LED headlights instead of halogen and increased to 227 mm clearance.

In turn, the Trail Boss version (new in range) has 242 mm of free space under the bottom.

It has an extended track, and the wheels are with 32-inch off-road tires.

The flagship of the range is the ZR2 version. Its main feature is a suspension with reinforced levers and Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers, which have three chambers with separate valves, placed outside the body.

Ground clearance of the top version is 272 mm, and the wheels are «boots» in 33-inch tires. There is an additional underbody protection, and you can order the «Desert Boss» package for a surcharge.

The latter includes a truncated front bumper, additional lighting, wheels with wheel locks, protective arch behind the cab, and a front camera located under the bottom.

All these versions have the same interior style, and all the differences are reduced to a list of equipment and finishing materials.

At the same time the base model already has an 8.0-inch digital dashboard and 11.3-inch multimedia.

Plus it gets the engine start button and electromechanical handbrake by default. You can order all-around cameras and a sunroof for a surcharge.

Like its predecessor, the new Chevrolet Colorado 2023 is based on a frame construction with double wishbone front suspension and uncut rear axle with leaf springs.

However, the chassis is new and more durable, according to the developers.

On the market the pickup will be available only with a full two-row Crew Cab.

There is no possibility to choose the size of the cargo platform — only a short version Short Box.

Note that the cargo area itself has eight loops for mounting the load, and for an additional fee it is offered a 110-volt outlet.

The tailgate here is equipped with built-in 101 mm deep hermetic compartment, where you can carry various small items.

As for the dimensions of the vehicle, it turned out to be somewhat larger than its predecessor in a similar configuration (Crew Cab + Short Box).

Its wheelbase was stretched to 3,337 mm (+79), but the length was almost the same — 5,411 mm.

The car reportedly has a reduced front overhang and improved geometric handling.

Especially impressive is the top version (ZR2) with an angle of approach equal to 38.3 degrees.

The Colorado 2023 is offered only with a 2.7-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which is already equipped with the older model — the Silverado.

However, the novelty motor is still modified, with a stronger cylinder block and increased crankshaft stiffness (+ 30%).

The WT and LT versions have 240 hp and 351 Nm, and the Z71 and Trail Boss versions have 314 hp and 529 Nm.

However, you can order the forced version of the motor for an extra fee for the initial modification.

Extreme Colorado ZR2 is a separate model. Here the engine develops standard 314 horsepower, but its torque is increased to 583 Nm.

In all versions of the model the unit works in tandem with an 8-speed automatic.

At the same time the initial versions can be ordered both with rear, and with hard-wheel drive.

Senior versions have all-wheel drive by default, and Trail Boss and ZR2 variants are also equipped with rear self-locking differential.

The pickup by default has several driving presets, and all-wheel drive versions have Terrain and Baja modes added to their number.

The first is suitable for slow driving (scrambling) on difficult terrain, and the second — for fast trips off-road.

Of the optional equipment available for the truck, it is worth noting the electronic assistant package with adaptive cruise control.

The new truck is equipped with a range of electronic aids, adaptive cruise control, and a range of accessories.

Mass production of the Third Colorado will be set up at a plant in Missouri, where they are still producing the model in the old body.

Assembly of the new trucks will start here only at the beginning of the 23rd, and they will be on sale in the spring of the same year.

It’s not known yet how much a pickup will cost, but it will probably be more expensive than its predecessor, for which they are asking at least 25,200 dollars (1.55 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
