This time we see not only the exterior of the model, but also the entire interior.
Chevrolet is working at full speed on a hybrid version of its popular sports car. The tests take place in southern Europe.
Before that we saw a camouflaged prototype which drove on the famous Nürburgring circuit.
After that, Chevrolet engineers began an equally important summer test to see how the car’s systems cope with high temperatures.
Thanks to this, they were able to get data about the model’s interior.
Surprisingly, there was no camouflage. The first thing that catches the eye is the steering wheel, located on the right side.
The steering wheel itself is sporty, with a lot of functions. Under it there are paddles for gear shifting.
The seats and the dashboard are finished in carbon fiber.
The red interior trim gives the car more sportiness.
There are some cables and a button on the center tunnel, but these elements all test prototypes have.
It is known that the power plant will be based on a 6.2-liter gasoline V8 LT2 engine.
It will be paired with one or two electric motors. We also know that a lithium-ion battery will be used.
The car will have all-wheel drive because the electric motors will transfer power to the rear axle.
The power plant output will be about 600 hp. Company representatives said that the Corvette E-Ray will go on sale next year, so the car can be expected to debut by the end of 2022.
Three years ago, the Corvette already had one revolution and became mid-engine (with the engine behind the seats) for the first time ever.
But there’s another significant metamorphosis ahead: a hybrid version is on the way.
And this Corvette will also become all-wheel drive for the first time in the history of the model!
General Motors has published a short video with a camouflaged prototype, which is tested in winter conditions.
