Chevrolet Onix 2021.
The new generation of the 2021 Chevrolet Onix was built on the inexpensive but relatively modern Global Emerging Markets platform.
It assumes good equipment with parking sensors and a stabilization system, and in terms of safety, the current Chevrolet Onix received five stars in NCAP tests.
In the initial configuration, both the hatch and the sedan immediately receive 6 airbags, but at the same time they remain budgetary, including through the use of inexpensive 1.0-liter «triplets» and savings on the chassis design: the rear suspension is represented by a semi-independent beam, and the rear brakes on such cars, drum only.
Overview
The Chevrolet Onix has long been the most popular hatchback in South America, and after an update in 2019, the same name, but with the Plus prefix, received the Prisma sister sedan.
From now on, Onyx is an automobile family that includes a sedan and a hatchback, it continues to provide Brazilians and their neighbors with solid budget cars, like the Chinese, because the Middle Kingdom is the second basic market for this model.
Body
The 2019 redesign allowed the model to slightly raise its status and step up half a class. This was helped by the increased dimensions of the new body: in the case of the Onix Plus sedan, its length increased by 199 mm. (4474 mm.)
The hatchback also became more spacious, in addition, both versions received a wheelbase extended to 2600 mm (+72 mm.). The second generation Chevrolet Onix 2021 also changed the exterior, in particular, received a completely new design of the front end.
The same design style is used on more expensive models of the American brand, and in general, the silhouette of the car has become more balanced, and thanks to the original 16-inch alloy wheels and beautiful optics, it is also not solid at a budget.
Salon
The interior of the updated Onyx looks decent and even pleases with not cheap finishing materials.
Of course, the status of the model cannot promise a high-tech cockpit, but there was also a central touchscreen with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a small display of a trip computer in an analog “tidy”, and a full-fledged multi-wheel.
In addition, already in the «base» there are heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, air conditioning, a rear parking aid, power windows on all doors and an audio system with 4 speakers.
Technical stuffing
The 2021 Chevrolet Onix is powered by a 1.0-liter Ecotec Flex Turbo three-cylinder petrol turbo engine.
The power of this power plant reaches 125 horsepower, the torque is 180 Nm.
An uncontested motor is given the same transmission — on Onyx it is a 6-speed automatic, which provides drive to the front axle.
Due to the relatively low weight, the car becomes quite frisky: about 10 seconds to «hundreds» at a maximum speed of 180 km / h.
An important indicator for a budget sedan is fuel consumption, which for the used «turbo-engine» is at the level of 4.9 liters per 100 km. mileage.
Chevrolet Onyx: when will it be released in Russia?
Inexpensive Chevrolet Onix hatchbacks and Onix Plus sedans may appear on the Russian market in 2021.
These will be cars assembled by UzAuto Motors, a company that has already announced that it is phasing out the Spark, Nexia, Cobalt and Gentra models to replace them with new ones, including Onix.
The only caveat is that the Onyx model can be produced under the Ravon brand.
Prices and configuration
Prices for the new Chevrolet Onyx model will start at $ 9,000 (675,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), in Russia the cost of a sedan and a hatchback will obviously be similar.
