Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 2024.
Chevrolet will equip the Chevy Silverado ZR2 pickup truck with six-cylinder diesel power by 2024.
The 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is renamed TurboMax.
The Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is a capable SUV, but diesel aficionados have previously been unable to choose their version of this model.
But their time has come, as by 2024 the pickup will be sold with a 3.0-liter Duramax engine.
The straight six produces 305 hp. and 670 Nm and is paired with 9 automatic transmissions, as well as with a standard all-wheel drive system.
Chevrolet stated that the engine was «designed for off-road use». The brand noted that the Silverado ZR2 is the only light SUV with a diesel engine.
Speaking of engines, the turbocharged 2.7-litre 4-cylinder gets a sleek new name: TurboMax.
Despite the fact that the engine continues to develop 310 hp. to arguments against turbocharged engines decades ago.
While change is a branding adventure, engine «names» have become commonplace in the full-size truck segment.
In particular, there is EcoBoost, EcoDiesel and i-Force Max. But Chevrolet is not restricting the Silverado name as it will be used on the Colorado in «one day».
Models equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine will be equipped with an active dual exhaust system. Engineers have been working on making the exhaust more raucous.
Additional changes are limited, but the 2024 Silverado gets an updated color palette that includes blue and metallic gray.
Car enthusiasts can also get the optional Black Appearance Package for the Silverado Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss and ZR2.
The luxurious Silverado High Country now comes standard with adaptive cruise control and is available in a new Midnight Edition.
The latter includes new retractable black side steps with LED lighting.
The available safety package has also been upgraded to include front and rear parking assistance.
