2021 Chevrolet Suburban: American version of full-size SUV.
Many American cars shock Europeans with their excessive dimensions, chic interior, and the power of the power units. An example is the newest version of the Chevrolet Suburban 2021 SUV, which is expected to be released mid-summer 2020.
In the twelfth generation, the new model is a large-sized multi-purpose jeep weighing 3.5 tons, focused on the needs of fans of extreme recreation and sports competitions.
The restyling of the new model range was marked by a harmonious combination of branded off-road style and a number of branded technological solutions.
Exterior
The appearance of the post-reform 2021 Suburban is dominated by the layout and photogenic body design of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup. In bright and expressive photos from the front, the SUV demonstrates:
• large format and minimal inclination of the bonnet decorated with ribbed sides;
• chrome-plated radiator grilles and ventilation air intake visually connected by the corporate logo;
• two-tier head optics units supplemented with navigation lights.
The lower segment of the massive front end is less aggressive. Its design features include a stepped transverse relief of the protruding bumper, original fog lamp shades and a powerful protective and decorative plastic body kit typical for SUVs.
Laconic and functional design of the novelty in lateral projection. In sight: a slightly sloped roof complete with roof rails, a clear contrast between the silver bezels and black plastic frames of the two-piece windows, rectangular mirrors and compact door handles.
The off-road status of the new version of the Chevrolet Suburban 2021 is confirmed by the large volume of square wheel arches, protective sill plates, high ground clearance and short overhangs. The entourage is complemented by a five-spoke pattern of 18-inch standard or 22-inch top titanium wheels.
The layout of the rear side of the body corresponds to American standards. Attention is drawn to:
• LED illumination of a compact spoiler visor;
• geometrically correct rectangular rear window format;
• wide tailgate decorated with the brand logo and chrome nameplates.
The design of vertical multifunctional lights and the upper plane of the bumper, designed as a step, organically fit into the overall style. Despite the lack of pronounced details of aggressive styling, the new SUV body looks dynamic, stylish and largely presentable.
Interior
The interior volume of an SUV with a seven-seat three-row layout is designed in the best American traditions. The interior combines high quality finishing materials, professional design, ergonomic layout of equipment, advanced capabilities of technical and electronic equipment.
Highly visible in the upper segment of the multifunction steering wheel, the dashboard includes analog dials and a highly informative computer monitor. Behind the wheel is a transmission selector and several paddle shifters.
The package includes the block center console:
• media command display and ventilation deflectors;
• several remote controls for onboard options activation and buttons for switching automatic transmission modes.
The design of the low wide tunnel includes a large well for personal belongings and small-sized luggage, a standard set of organizers and a soft armrest, which is convenient for long trips.
Equipped with elements of lateral and lumbar support, the driver’s and front passenger’s seats offer standard service: these are several adjustment ranges, heated and cooled seats.
The lack of some of the service functions of the perfectly profiled second and third row seats is compensated by a large amount of personal space, the ability to change the angle of the backrests and longitudinal movement of the seats in the range of 254 mm, as well as the presence of cup holders built into the long armrest.
The function of partial transformation of the rear seats allows you to vary the volume of the luggage compartment in the range from 1163 to 4095 liters.
Specifications
In the new incarnation of the Chevrolet Suburban 2021, it received more dynamic high-speed and economical operating characteristics, a multidisciplinary test drive confirmed the well-coordinated interaction of component systems and units.
In the new edition, the SUV with body dimensions of 5690 x 2045 and 1890 mm offers a rear or all-wheel drive chassis with several suspension options, an axle base extended to 3071 mm and a minimum ground clearance of 210 mm.
The manufacturer offers a choice of two gasoline and one diesel power unit. In the first solution, this is a 5.3-liter naturally aspirated engine with an output of 360 hp / 632 Nm of peak thrust, as well as a top-end analogue with parameters of 6.2 l / 425 hp / 623 Nm.
A more economical option is a Duramax diesel with an output of 281 hp / 623 Nm of maximum torque.
The traction characteristics of the entire engine range are realized by the uncontested 6-band transmission and the Dynamic Fuel Management system.
The dynamics of the start is promised in the range of 9.9-10.4 seconds, fuel consumption per 100 km of run in mixed mode from 16.2 to 18.3 liters.
Options and prices
There is no reliable data on the number of modifications and their cost in the information field. Presumably, the price of the base model starts from 60 thousand dollars or more.
Competing models
Models of the same type from other well-known brands, in particular, Jeep Wagoneer, Toyota Sequoia and Ford Excursion, can claim the status of competitors with varying degrees of success.
