Chevrolet Tracker 2022.

The Uzbek Chevrolet Tracker will appear in six months: waiting in Russia.

The Uzbek state company UzAvtoMotors (former JV GM-Uzbekistan) has completed a large scale modernization of its main plant in Asaka and is now preparing to produce two new models of Chevrolet on the GEM modular platform.

These are compact sedan Onix and crossover Tracker of the second generation.

The other day two pre-production models of the Tracker rolled off the assembly line, and serial production of these parkettes is scheduled for summer 2022. The sedan will hit the assembly line later.

Onix and Tracker will be produced in Asaka on a full cycle (with welding and painting the body) and with a high degree of localization, which will be at least 50%.

According to the Uzbek media, $428 million will be invested in the organization of production.

Another $191 million will be spent on mastering the production of turbo engines, because now the UzAuto Motors Powertrain plant near Tashkent is producing only simple atmospheric engines.

The planned output of new GEM-models is about 80,000 units a year. And no small part of these cars will be exported, mainly to Russia.

The crossover Chevrolet Tracker second generation debuted two years ago in China, in 2020, its production was implemented in Brazil, and the Uzbek plant will be the third assembly site.

With a length of 4,270 mm, it is similar to Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur models.

Interestingly, in Uzbekistan such a Tracker began selling a year ago, but these cars are Chinese-made at a significant price.

On sale there are only cars with three-cylinder turbo engine 1.0 (125 hp), six-speed «automatic» and front-wheel drive, but with the localization of production range can be expanded.

By the way, assembly of the Trekkers has recently started in Kazakhstan. But the plant SaryarkaAvtoprom in Kostanai is producing cars by screwdriver method from Chinese kits.

Here the Parkettes with the same liter turbo engine and an automatic cost from 9.3 million tenge (1.58 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

In Russia only the bigger crossover Chevrolet Trailblazer (from 2,1 million rubles) is on sale now, and these cars come to us from South Korea.
