The French company Citroen presents a new model Citroen C5 X 2022 model year. The developers are positioning the novelty as a flagship in the segment of large cars with an authentic design.
Here, the designers managed to harmoniously combine an elegant sedan and a spacious station wagon.
In France, the production of Citroen cars was stopped in 2017. Further assembly of improved sedans continued in the PRC.
The production of C5 X is carried out at the facilities of the Chinese enterprise Dongfeng Stellantis in Chengdu (Sichuan province).
Accordingly, the discussed model will enter the European markets with the stamp “made in China”.
Exterior
When developing the novelty, a team of mechanics, engineers and designers combined the elegant features of a sedan, the dynamism of a station wagon, and a massive crossover look.
Consequently, a cross-liftback with large wheels, a high seating position and a plastic all-round body kit is expected at release.
Interior
The laconic and stylish interior design of C5 X 2022 is aesthetic and attractive. Despite the visual minimalism, the large salon is stuffed with an extensive set of modern electronic systems.
The dashboard features a wide 10 or 12 inch touchscreen and head-up display.
In addition, the cabin is equipped with special luxury seats, provided with a special upholstery made of soft, high-density material.
In addition to the large, high-definition multimedia screen, the interior features head-up display technology that projects vehicle status, navigation and speed indicators directly onto the windshield.
Luggage compartment
The trunk of the C5 X has a large, typical for station wagons, with a capacity of 545 and 1640 liters with the seats folded.
The model features a practical tailgate with a low sill. This design makes the luggage compartment as ergonomic as possible.
The developers claim that the model will be of sufficient volumetric dimensions. The dimensions correspond to the average sizes of a sedan and station wagon. However, the car has little to do with the sedan.
Citroen C5 X is a classic model of the D class on the EMP2 platform, equipped with MacPherson struts and a rear beam or multi-link.
The car is equipped with a complete set of plastic aerodynamic elements. Due to the lack of all-wheel drive, this crossover-like model cannot be called highly passable.
Citroen C5 X: specifications
Basic modifications promise to equip with petrol turbo-triplets of 1.2 liters and turbo-fours of 1.6 liters PureTech. At the same time, the exact parameters are not yet known.
More expensive trim levels include a plug-in hybrid setup complete with a 1.6-liter ICE with 225 horsepower. The declared speed, exclusively on an electric motor, will be 135 km / h.
A full charge will last for 50 kilometers. Such indicators of the electric drive will be sufficient for driving in urban conditions, without refueling with gasoline. All versions will have 8-speed automatic transmissions.
The company plans to launch two modifications on the market, gasoline and a hybrid. Diesel variations are not planned to be delivered.
The suspension type on all modifications is Citroën Advanced Comfort and the same system, but slightly simplified, is on the hybrid models.
The Advanced Comfort suspension has 3 operating modes. The softest mode allows the car to slide on the road, and the hard mode makes the car more stable when cornering, but causes increased suspension stiffness.
As befits a modern model, the C5 X is equipped with a wide range of safety systems, including the Highway Driver Assist.
In addition, there is a Level 2 Driver Assistance System on board to help detect vehicles in blind spots and warn of rear cross-traffic. Among the security systems, we would like to point out the new generation Top 360 Vision circular camera.
Release date and price
The new model Citroen C5 X will initially enter the European market. According to the assurances of company representatives, sales will start in the second half of 2021. Pricing will be announced closer to release.
