Introduced 818 hp Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock.

Three years ago, the FCA concern brought to the market a serial drag racing car — the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon coupe.

But this model had many specific changes (single saloon, special tires) and was produced in a limited edition of 3,300 pieces.

After that, as a consolation, the «civilian» coupe Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye was presented, and now its new iteration called the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock has arrived.

According to the standard of the American association NHRA, which organizes drag racing, the Super Stock class is cars created on the basis of serial cars, but with significant technical improvements.

And the FCA concern positions the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock coupe as the most powerful and fastest serial muscle car. Although he still falls short of a small-scale Demon.

Under the hood is a powerful V8 Hemi 6.2 compressor engine with two fuel pumps. Its output is 818 hp. and 959 Nm against 808 hp. and 958 Nm for the two-year-old Redeye version.

But the Demon had 852 hp. and 1044 Nm. The transmission has a reinforced eight-speed «automatic» and a limited slip differential.

Modeled on the Demon, the Super Stock version features an adaptive suspension with a special Track mode that relaxes the shock absorbers as much as possible to improve tire grip when driving in a straight line.

There are Launch Control functions for the most efficient start and Line Lock for warming up the rear tires (the front brakes are applied, and the rear wheels remain free).

Standard equipment includes 315 / 40R18 Nitto NT05R drag tires and 4-piston Brembo brakes with 360mm discs on all wheels.

From zero to 60 mph (97 km / h), the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock Coupe accelerates in 3.25 seconds versus 3.4 seconds for the Redeye version.

The maximum speed is electronically limited due to the capabilities of the tires: 270 km / h, while the Redeye on civilian tires and without a limiter can accelerate to 327 km / h.

A quarter mile race lasts 10.5 seconds — 0.3 seconds less than the Redeye version, and a loss to the Demon reaches 0.85 seconds.

At the same time, the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock can be used for daily trips: it has a full-fledged interior and rich equipment. And the circulation is not limited: the serial production of such coupes will begin in the fall.

Dodge has unveiled the world’s most powerful muscle car.

As part of the renewal of the Challenger family, the Dodge brand introduced an extreme version of the coupe called Super Stock. This car became the most powerful mass-produced muscle car in the world.

• The special version got its name in honor of the racing class in drag racing. The coupe is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 compressor engine, which develops 818 hp. and 959 Nm — 10 hp. more than the Hellcat Redeye. Transmission — reinforced automatic with eight gears.

• Dodge calls its creation the most powerful and fastest muscle car in the world, arguing this statement with dynamic figures: to 97 km / h (60 mph) Super Stock accelerates in 3.25 seconds. The novelty travels a quarter mile distance in 10.5 seconds, showing 211 km / h at the finish line. The maximum speed is 270 km / h. However, this is an artificial limitation due to the use of Nitto NT05R 315 / 40R18 drag tires.

• Front and rear axles are fitted with 360mm Brembo brake discs and four-piston calipers.

• By comparison, the Redeye accelerates to 97 km / h in 3.4 seconds and is 0.3 seconds behind by 1/4 mile, but its top speed is higher at 327 km / h.

• The modification is based on the Challenger Widebody coupe with widened wheel arches. Its features include a self-locking differential, Bilstein adaptive dampers with Track, Sport, Custom and Auto settings.

• Previously, the most powerful muscle car was the Challenger SRT Demon, presented in 2017. The modification, released in a circulation of 3,300 copies, was a specialized car for drag racing. The 6.2 V8 engine with a mechanical supercharger developed 852 hp. In 2019, the release of Demon ended — so now the palm has passed to Super Stock.
