Not like before: sales of the new Dongfeng 580 began.

Dongfeng Fengon 580 crossover of the new (second) generation was premiered in China.

Remind that the original model is known simply as «Dongfeng 580,» but some time ago the developer formed a separate brand Fengon, due to which the successor has received an expanded name.

Externally presented SUV is quite different from the old, pleasing the eye with a more austere exterior design.

The car has a completely new body, and the only detail that resembles the first-generation model is the fifth door across the full width of the back.

Crossover has narrow LED headlights, closely adjoining the massive grille (as in Lexus).

The rear lights of the car are visually united with each other, but at the same time have additional sections in the rear bumper.

Curiously, the truck has no company’s logos of Dongfeng: it is decorated only with inscriptions «Fengon». Inside the vehicle, it has three rows and offered in two configurations.

So, on the second row of the vehicle can be installed either a standard three-seat sofa, or two separate seats, and the last one can boast of heating and ventilation.

Plus, the car boasts large displays of virtual dashboard and a multimedia system, and the latter here runs on an operating system Huawei HiCar.

Dongfeng Fengon 580 is built on the platform of the first-generation model, although it is more advanced here — with a rear multi-lever suspension.

In terms of dimensions the novelty is fully consistent with the crossover predecessor: the length of the car reaches 4,720 mm, width — 1,865 mm, and height — 1,710 mm.

Wheelbase is stated at the level of 2 785 mm (+ 5).

The car is powered by a new 1.5-liter turbo T-GDI developing 184 hp and 300 Nm.

We shall remind you that the old unit gave out only 145 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.

The engine works in tandem with a classical six-speed automatic, while the first generation model will use a variator.

The drive is declared as front drive only, but there is no data about the dynamics.

The «fifty eighty» will appear in Chinese dealers in the autumn of 2021 at a price of 15 to 20 thousand USD (from 1,1 to 1,5 million rubles at current exchange rate).

But whether to wait for the model in Russia — still unknown, although its first generation is sold here officially.
