Italians declassified limited edition hypercar Ferrari Daytona SP3

Ferrari presented the third model of the Icona family: the company of existing supercars Monza SP1 and SP2 is exotic Daytona SP3.

The novelty is built in honor of the victory of the Italian brand at the Daytona 24 Hours marathon in 1967.

Designer Flavio Manzoni was responsible for the appearance of Ferrari Daytona SP3. The model turned out to be similar to La Ferrari Aperta in many ways, although its body is still original.

When working on the appearance of hypercar Italian designers were guided by such classic sports cars as Ferrari P3/4, P330 and 412P, which just successfully performed in 24-hour endurance marathons.

At the front, the model draws attention with a pronounced splitter, flaps, a sharp yet low «nose», and plump rounded wings. Plus, it has spectacular opening LED headlights.

The two-door is characterized by a sculpted profile with butterfly wing doors. The car has a targa roof, and the side mirrors are mounted directly on the front fenders.

The stern of the new Ferrari Daytona SP3 looks the most impressive. At the back there are horizontal strips of LED-lights, under which there are effective «blades-jalousie».

Plus, the car has a stylish metal engine cover and an eye-catching carbon fiber diffuser with a pair of large rectangular exhaust system nozzles.

The image of the Italian two-door is completed by unique five-spoke wheels with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires which were developed specially for this model.

A separate subject of pride for the Italians is the passive aerodynamics: in this regard, the SP3 Daytona supposedly surpasses all other models of the brand.

The developers involved a number of solutions to achieve such a result. In particular, the car got a pair of air ducts under the bottom, which are connected to the rear louvers and help to increase the downforce generated at speed.

The interior of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 features fixed seats that are visually united with the center tunnel and even go into the side sills.

Such a solution again should remind racing cars of the 1960s. Note that the seats have an eye-catching blue finish, while the front panel is notable for its minimalist design and covered in black alcantara.

In front of the driver is a curved 16.0-inch digital dashboard display, which also controls the multimedia system.

Two-door steering wheel is almost like a La Ferrari. It has a toggle switch Manettino for switching of driving modes, as well as buttons on the side spokes, which provide access to 80% of functions, that is, everything is done in order to the driver does not remove his hands from the «steering wheel» unnecessarily.

Other features of the cabin include a stylish design of the gearbox selector and a large number of accents made of «naked» carbon fiber.

Ferrari Daytona SP3 is built on the basis of a carbon monocoque from the aforementioned La Ferrari Apert, however, instead of a hybrid power plant the car relies on a traditional internal combustion engine.

The body and chassis of the model are made of composite materials (for example, carbon fiber and kevlar). This seriously lightens the construction of the vehicle.

In motion the hypercar is led by a centrally located 6.5-liter atmospheric V12, known under the index F140HC.

In fact, this is a unit from 812 Competizione, having received numerous modifications of the intake and exhaust systems.

The Italians report that the Daytona SP3 motor is the most powerful atm in the history of Ferrari: it develops 840 hp at 9,250 rpm and 697 Nm at 7,250 rpm.

The engine can be accelerated up to 9,500 rpm. All the power is transmitted to the rear axle through a very fast seven-speed F1 robot with two clutches.

It is reported that the hypercar is able to accelerate from a place to a hundred in just 2.85 seconds, and from 0-200 km/h — in 7.4 seconds. Its top speed is higher than 340 km/h.

In addition to impressive dynamics, the novelty boasts a driving character, which is supported by advanced electronic assistants, among which there is the latest version of Ferrari SSC (Side Slip Angle Control) and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer technology, responsible for regulating the pressure in the braking system.

Like other models of the Icona family, the new Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be released as a limited edition of 599 copies at a price of 2 million euros each (almost 166 million rubles at current exchange rates).

At the same time Enrico Galliera, commercial director of the company, claims that all these cars have already been sold out.
