What body type is more popular today than a crossover? That’s right — a cross coupe. If 5 years ago someone would say that the Ford Mustang will release a SUV, and even an electric one, few would believe it, but they let it out. The novelty was officially presented at the annual Los Angeles Auto Show 2019 under the name Mach-E, where the letter “E” naturally means an electric car.

Mustang 2020 will delight with a wide range of options, powertrains and battery capacity. What exactly to expect from the “horse” of 2020 will be considered below.

Ford will offer five trim levels. Each will additionally have small variations of power units, drive and speed characteristics.

The first, as a basic Mustang, is offered a complete set with all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
The electric motor will generate 258 hp. at 415 Hm. At the same time, the crossover can put an arrow up to hundreds in 6.5 seconds, and the all-wheel drive version is exactly one second faster.

Maximum speed is not specified. The battery capacity is offered at 75.5 kWh, and the power reserve will be 370 km for rear-wheel drive and 338 for full.

Next up is the Mach-E Premium. Even in this configuration, several varieties are provided. Because of the two drive options (full and rear), four engine options will be offered.

Two at 258 hp with a difference in Hm (415 and 581) and two for 286 hp. at 415 or 581 Hm. Additionally, a choice of two batteries is offered — 75.5 or 98.8 kWh.

Four-wheel drive and 286 hp engine allow the Mustang to accelerate in 5 seconds, and the power reserve will be 483 km.
The version with the loud name «California» will be only with rear-wheel drive, a 286-hp engine at 415 Hm. Acceleration for 6.5, a battery of 98.8 kWh and a range of 483 km.

The Edition option is more powerful. It will offer four-wheel drive, engine 337 hp at 581 Hm. Acceleration for 5.5, one charge is enough for 434 km. 98.8 kWh battery

The latter received a branded prefix GT and incorporated the best. Four-wheel drive, two engines on each axis with a return of up to 460 hp Acceleration to hundreds — 3.5 seconds. Cruising range — 402 km.
So far, the guys from Ford did not tell any details about the design solutions in their platform.

The Mach-E body is designed in the best tradition of the Mustangs. At least the front part completely copies the latest flagships. The rest also did not disappoint. In front of us is a squat with a sloping roof electric crossover and no less recognizable rear with tiger optics.

To understand that this electric car is not difficult. The grille has a traditional visor with a signature emblem. The shape and pattern of the optics, plus the massive wings on the sides immediately declare that this is not just a walking crossover.

From the interesting — a panoramic roof with UV protection, protection of wheel arches and body kits. And, of course, a charging socket neatly embedded in the front wing.

At the same time, the dimensions are rather modest, given that we have a pure American, where everything is a little more than in the rest of the world.

Inside, Mach-E meets a minimalist cabin with small associations under Tesla. Strict torpedo without a visor peculiar to everyone. Instead of traditional tidy small elongated screen. Instead of the central panel, a 15-5-inch vertical screen with a turn on the driver.

Under the screen, a deep failure with access to two cup holders. After which, almost at the armrest there is a small panel with a transmission washer. Leather chairs migrated from Mustang sedans.

Price and sales start date

Unfortunately, the electric car will appear on roads only at the end of 2020 — the beginning of 2021. However, the price tag has been published. 2.86 million rubles will be requested for the basic version of the cross-coupe, GT will be the most expensive.

Ford will ask for almost 4 million rubles for it.
Mach-E will be sold everywhere. But the key markets will be the United States and Europe. In Russia, the crossover will also appear.
