The British will revive the racing Ford Sierra RS500.
The British engineering company CNC Engineering AWS has announced its intention to «revive» the legendary Ford Sierra RS500, which at one time participated in the «Group A» touring circuit racing class.
Only three cars will be built, and they will be developed together with Andy Rouse Engineering team, which won the championship in 1988 and 1989 on the original version of the sports car.
The head of CNC Engineering AWS Alan Strachan has already said that the company has access to all the necessary drawings.
What’s more, they want to use the original components in the design of the revived cars, namely the side exhaust, sealed fuel tank, front suspension struts and rear arms, as well as a steel safety cage.
Thus, the three new copies of the model will be as authentic as possible. What’s more, specifically the first car will get an all-new three-door Sierra body, which has been stored in a garage since the late eighties.
By the way, the revived cars will be painted in white, although the livery can be chosen by the customer.
The revived Ford Sierra RS500 will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged Cosworth YB engine with an output of 575 hp.
The engine will work in conjunction with a five-speed Getrag transmission, which transmits power to the rear wheels.
Technically the cars will be close to the original, so they will be allowed to participate in historical races.
As for the price, the British asked for a revived car for a minimum of 185,500 pounds sterling (17.9 million rubles at current exchange rates), while the model will also be available for a variety of paid options.
The new Sierra RS500 will be built to match the original as closely as possible.
For the first specimen, they will take a brand new three-door Sierra body, stored in a garage since the late eighties.
Under the hood will be installed 2.0-liter turbocharged Cosworth YB engine with 575 hp, which will drive the wheels of the rear axle through a 5-speed Getrag transmission.
Technically the cars will be maximally close to the original, so they will be allowed to participate in historical races.
The bodies are planned to be painted white with optional livery.
The starting price of the new Ford Sierra RS500 will be £185,000 (=17,900,000 rubles).
Customers will be offered to pay extra for different visual and technical options.
