Geely Monjaro for Russia: a review of Geely’s flagship crossover.

The world premiere of the medium-sized crossover Geely Monjaro / KX11 took place at the April Auto Show in Shanghai 2021, and even then it became known that in the future this model will appear in Russia.

In the domestic (Chinese) market all-terrain vehicle is sold under the difficult to pronounce the name «Xingyue L», and here for a number of export countries (including Russia), the automaker has reserved the name «Monjaro».

The latter is a kind of reference to the African volcano Kilimanjaro.

The new Jili Monjaro is a flagship in the model lineup of the brand, so the car has a solid exterior on the outside.

«Face» is formed by the front bumper with large air intakes, slightly squinted LED headlights and «chiseled» radiator grille.

On the side the car is characterized by a long hood and strong shoulder line, due to which its silhouette looks athletic and trim.

The model is equipped with rounded-square wheel arches, which can be fitted with rims with a diameter of 18 to 20 inches.

As for the stern, the narrow lights here are combined with a luminous strip.

There is also an embossed luggage door with a spoiler visor and an unpretentious rear bumper.

The mood in the interior of the new Jili Monjaro 2022 is set by the minimalistic front panel, which is almost entirely occupied by displays.

Thus, behind a sports steering wheel with truncated bottom rim is a 12.3-inch virtual dashboard.

To the right of it there are two more touchscreens — central and for the front passenger.

The two latter are placed under a single glass, due to which they appear to be one whole.

But the Chinese did not refuse completely from analog buttons: a number of physical buttons in the central console are saved to control the microclimate and heating.

Interior of the crossover has «leather» trim and power front seats.

Of the declared options for it is worth noting ambient lighting (72 colors), an audio system Bose with 10 speakers and a panoramic roof.

Technical Specifications

Geely Monjaro KX11 is the largest model of the company, built on a modular platform CMA (Compact Modular Architecture).

Recall that the latter was developed by Volvo, now part of the Chinese concern.

Characteristic for this «bogie» is completely independent suspension with McPherson struts in front and multilever design in the rear.

The crossover reaches a length of 4,770 mm and its wheelbase is equal to 2,845 mm. Width and height of the car are on the level — 1 895 and 1 689 mm, respectively.

The trunk capacity behind the second row is 562 liters. Inside, there’s a 12-volt power outlet and a sub-cellar with a dock.

Rear seats can be folded, but the capacity of such a compartment is not advertised. In the base Gili Monjaro KX11 is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline «turbo four» Volvo E-Drive rated at 218 hp (325 Nm).

There’s a seven-speed dual-clutch robot and front-wheel drive.

More expensive versions have the same engine, but overcharged up to 238 hp (350 Nm). Aisin 8-speed automatic system works together with it.

Transmission is all-wheel drive with a Borgwarner clutch on the rear axle. The junior modification accelerates from zero to a hundred in 7.9 seconds, and the senior — in 7.7 seconds.

In China, the crossover is available with hybrid installation on the basis of a 1,5-liter turbo engine and an electric motor that give out 244 «horses» in total, but it is not necessary to wait for such version in our country.

As befits a modern model, the new Jili Monjaro 2022 is characterized by the presence of advanced «electronics».

For example, the car is equipped with an automatic parking system with remote control (you can give commands from a special remote control).

Plus, the model has a system V2X (Vehicle to X), allowing it to «communicate» with other cars and objects of road infrastructure.

It is able to inform the driver about traffic jams on the route and offer the best detour route.
