Geely Tugella 2021: coupe-like crossover from the Middle Kingdom in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
The Geely concern has certified the Geely Tugella 2021 cross-coupe adapted for the Russian market, known in the Middle Kingdom under the name Xing Yue FY11.
The design features of the novelty include a modern body design, a universal platform developed by Volvo specialists, as well as additional functions of technical and electronic systems.
The new model is promised in front- and all-wheel drive trim levels, with different options for diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines. The ability to customize the car will provide a wide range of paid additional options.
Exterior
In the second generation, the cosmetic restyling of the coupe-like crossover made it possible to successfully implement several original solutions aimed at improving technical and operational characteristics.
In appearance, the changes are nominal. In the photo in the front projection Geely Tugella 2021 demonstrates:
• longitudinal wave profiles of the hood inclined towards the front end;
• compact dimensions and chrome-plated frame of the pentagonal radiator lining;
• blocks of multi-element xenon optics supplemented with dynamic strokes of DRL.
The front end is also equipped with a large racing format combined with ventilation diffusers of the lower air intake, a protective panel of a small-sized plastic body kit and a set of fog lights. The frontal bodywork is represented by the corporate logo and the muscular relief of the front fenders.
In the side view, the Geely Tugella of the 2021 model combines the features of off-road and business style. In stock:
• decorative silver rails of domed roof sloping gently to the stern;
• expressive tonal contrast of chrome frame and black plastic trim of three-piece windows;
• rectangular panoramic mirrors and compact door handles.
The features of the profile entourage include details of ribbed relief on the sidewalls and geometrically correct contours of the wheel arches, a protective and decorative plastic «skirt» corresponding to the crossover status, as well as a five-spoke design of off-road aluminum wheels.
The stern of the new crossover is modernly and stylishly designed. Attention is drawn to the semi-oval configuration of the rear window, the presence of a spoiler lip on the tailgate, internal sections of multifunctional lights and a decorative strip with the brand name.
The design of the wide plastic body kit contains horizontal anti-fog lampshades and large-caliber exhaust integrated into the sidewalls of the protective panel. In general, the novelty looks functional, monolithic and dynamic.
Interior
The basic fabric or top-end leather trim of the five-seater saloon volume is impeccable in every respect. The interior, complemented by premium style elements, is dominated by practicality and carefully thought-out ergonomics.
The new body provides a decent level of comfort for the driver and four passengers. The salon has an excellent overview in all directions, the level of road service and safety systems corresponding to off-road status, advanced characteristics of modern standard electronics.
• The front panel will delight potential owners with the information content of the digital instrument cluster and the expanded functionality of the widescreen media command monitor of the center console.
• A small part of the elements for activating on-board options are concentrated on the face of the sports multifunction steering wheel.
• In the lower part of the dashboard there is a horizontal block of two ventilation deflectors adjustable in terms of performance.
The design of the low and wide tunnel includes a technical sector with a power transmission shift knob, a well for small-sized luggage, several comfort-forming organizers and a convenient armrest that combines the function of a mini-refrigerator cover.
The front seat service with full lateral support offers several adjustment ranges, devices for seat heating and ventilation. The moderate comfort of the three seats of the rear sofa is compensated by the spacious format, the presence of a backrest tilt and a folding armrest.
In the new edition of the Gili Tugella cross-coupe 2021, the trunk volume has been increased from 326 to 446 liters. It is assumed that the volume can be increased by partially dismantling the rear seats.
Specifications
Body dimensions are formatted in classic, 4605 x 1878 and 1643 mm, crossover proportions. The undercarriage with a base of 2700 mm and a ground clearance of 190 mm is equipped with disc brakes, running stabilizers and modern active safety circuits.
• In the domestic market, the new 2021 Gili Tugella comes with four powertrain options. The model for the Russian market will receive an uncontested tandem consisting of a two-liter gasoline engine with an output of 199/237 hp. and a 7-band front or all-wheel drive robotic transmission.
• The test drive has shown optimal starting-speed and operational characteristics for its power category.
Options and prices
In the new edition, the second generation cross-coupe is announced in basic and top-end configurations. Taking into account the level and equipment, the price of new items will be formed in the range from 1.4 to 1.8 million rubles.
Sales start in Russia
The first lots will enter the Chinese market in mid-autumn. The reliable release date in Russia at this hour is not known. According to the experts of dealer structures, the novelty will appear in domestic car dealerships at the end of this year, 2020.
Competing models
The main rivals of Gili Tugell’s cross-coupe are similar developments of other car brands with a class not lower than Chevrolet Blazer and Chevrolet Captiva, Toyota RAV4, BMW X1, Renault Arkana, Opel Crossland X and Borgward BX6.
