Genesis Electrified GV70 introduced in China: electric crossover variant.
The electric version of the crossover Genesis GV70 has premiered in China on November 19, 2021, with the prefix «Electrified» in the name.
Outwardly, the novelty is not so different from the standard gasoline and diesel cars. Recognize it by the presence of a plug instead of the grille, which at the same time has a built-in charging connector.
Plus the electric variant of the SUV has a smoothed bumper design and different wheels. The interior is standard, although the graphics of the digital dashboard is slightly changed.
The trunk has a socket for connecting external consumers with a capacity of up to 3.6 kW.
Genesis Electrified GV70 is based on the E-GMP platform components. In particular, the crossover received a charging system, working with a voltage of 800 volts.
It supports up to 350 kW of power, allowing the battery charge to be replenished from 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes.
The capacity of traction battery is not announced, but according to the specification it should cover 400 kilometers, although according to the Chinese standard of measurement range is 500 kilometers.
There is an electric motor on front and rear axles of the electric GV70. In rated mode, each of them develops 218 hp and 350 Nm.
When activating a short-time «Overboost» mode, the peak output can reach 490 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
According to the manufacturer, the Genesis Electrified GV70 is able to accelerate from a place up to a hundred in 4.5 seconds.
Developers provide a one-pedal driving mode, as well as off-road preset «e-Terrain». Interestingly, Genesis makes a big bet on selling its electric cars in China, but so far there is no local production of models of the brand, so at first the «green» GV70 will be delivered to China from South Korea.
The novelty will also appear on the North American market. Moreover, over the ocean it will become the first model of South Korean brand, production of which will be launched directly in the U.S.
Assembly of cars will be organized at the plant Hyundai in Alabama, and it will happen in the second half of 2022. In the future, the same plant will house other models of the brand.

At the Auto Guangzhou 2021 auto show that opened on November 19 in China, Korean manufacturer Genesis introduced an electric crossover Electrified GV70 with a range of 400 km, based on the Genesis GV70 model.
Externally, the two crossover models do not differ from each other. The Electrified GV70 has two electric motors, stylized front bumper and closed panel instead of the radiator grille.
The system is able to automatically shut down one of the engines, deciding for itself whether you need it at that particular moment or not.
This is done to save energy. It also features two driving modes — i-Pedal and e-Terrain. With e-Terrain, the program automatically adjusts the electronic suspension systems for off-road driving.
The i-Pedal allows the driver to accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal.
In addition, the manufacturers have equipped the Electrified GV70 with a noise reduction system and V2L function, which allows connecting electric devices to the crossover.
The exact date when the Electrified GV70 goes on sale is unknown.
Also, its price and more detailed specifications were not indicated at the show. Presumably, they will be announced next year closer to the start of sales.
Genesis promised not to be limited to China and Korea when distributing the crossover.
