Genesis GV60: new electric crossover officially unveiled.

At the end of September twenty-first the official premiere of the electric crossover Genesis GV60 took place.

The novelty is the brand exterior design with twin strips of headlights «Quad Lamps» and iconic for the brand grille «Crest Grille».

However, the shape of the grille is slightly different, and its size is more compact. Other features of the new model are retractable door handles, cameras instead of traditional side mirrors, and complex design of the wheel rims, which can be 19 to 21 inches in diameter.

Plus, the electric car has a sloping coupe-shaped roof, a fixed spoiler on the stern and twin strips of LED lights. It will be available to order in one of 11 body shades.

The interior of the Genesis GV60 2022 is designed in the concept called «Beauty of White Space»: the car has a perfectly flat floor and no central tunnel.

Curiously, the central armrest has a separate console, where the developers placed cup holders, a washer to control the multimedia system and the so-called «Crystal Sphere».

On a parked car the latter is inactive, but when you start moving it begins to rotate, turning into a transmission selector «Shift By Wire».

The model also boasts of biometric scanners, due to which you can unlock the cabin with face recognition and start the engine with a fingerprint.

Otherwise, the interior of Genesis GV60 in many ways repeated existing models of the Korean brand. Thus, there are two large displays and a projection screen on the front panel.

The doors and seats of electric crossover have recycled upholstery by default, but you can order leather for extra charge.

Two-zone climate control and multicontour front seats, in which there are seven pneumatic chambers, are called to please the passengers.

Bang & Olufsen music with 17 speakers is offered at extra charge. An active noise cancelling system will allow enjoying its sound to the fullest.

The new Genesis GV60 2022 is a compact model, built on a modular platform E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform).

This «bogie» of concern Hyundai is designed specifically for electric cars, so there will be no versions with internal combustion engine.

The crossover reaches 4,515 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,850 mm in height. The distance between the axles of the car is 2 900 mm. In terms of technology, it largely repeats the electric models Hyundai Ioniq 5 and KIA EV6.

The Parkette has an exclusively spring suspension, with McPherson struts on its front axle and multilever in the rear.

At the same time, the rich versions flaunt the presence of adaptive shock absorbers, which are able to change their rigidity, focusing on the data from the front camera (such a solution is already used on the older models Genesis).

At the moment, there are three versions of the Genesis GV60, but all of them have a traction battery capacity of 77.4 kWh. On Hyundai and Kia brand electric cars, the latter relies exclusively on the top-end Long Range version.

The battery has a pre-start warm-up system, and it can be recharged from the «fastest» terminals with 800 volts and a capacity of 350 kWh.

When using the latter, it takes just 5 minutes to replenish the battery for a 100km dash, and recharging to 80% takes about 18 minutes.

At the same time, the developers provide the possibility to use 400-volt terminals. Plus, for recharging will be suitable and normal household socket. And you can connect a variety of electrical appliances with power up to 3.6 kW to the car.

As for the versions of the new Genesis GV60, in the base crossover is offered with one electric motor rated at 228 hp. (350 Nm). This rear-wheel drive modification is the most long-range (on the cycle WLTP mileage can reach 451 km).

The all-wheel drive version is next, where the rear engine has 217 hp, and in front there is another 101-horsepower engine, which can be deactivated by pressing a button if necessary.

Total output of the units is 318 «horses» (605 Nm), and range is claimed at the level of 400 km.

The top version GV60 Performance has 217 horsepower motors installed on both axles. In total they produce 435 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque, but such power is available only for a short time (within 10 seconds) — after pressing a special button «Boost» on the steering wheel.

It is reported that the flagship is able to accelerate from a place up to a hundred in 4.0 seconds, and drive up to 368 kilometers without recharging.

Also the top variant has electronically controlled locking rear differential and drifting mode.

Other features of the model include sound imitation with three presets: Futuristic, E-Motor and G-Motor, and the last one creates an illusion of a gasoline engine.

The car has eight airbags, two of which are central.

The Genesis GV60 is scheduled to go on sale in 2022, so while the company has not announced the cost of the model even for the home (South Korean) market.
