In January, the premiere of the new generation GMC Yukon 2021 and its stretched version Yukon XL, which are actually luxury versions of the fifth generation Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban models, took place. Cars differ from the latter mainly in their external decor.

In particular, the cars received a different front end design in the style of the Sierra pickup. They have a large grille, which is flanked by C-shaped LED headlights with integrated DRLs.

Plus, from the original Tahoe and Suburban, the new Yukon differ in a different hood and fenders.

Sideways, the luxury SUVs feature a completely flat roofline, sculpted doors and heavily sloping C-pillars. At the rear of the cars, attention is drawn to the vertically positioned L-shaped lights in the style of GMC Arcadia, as well as additional sections on the fifth door.

As for the interior, here the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL of the 2021 model year differ from the Tahoe and Suburban only in some details — they have a different steering wheel and more expensive finishing materials.

At the same time, a curious option called «Power Sliding Center Console» is available for cars. The latter is a large box located between the front seats, which, if necessary, can be moved back by 254 mm.

Plus, for a surcharge, SUVs rely on 12.6-inch touchscreens for second-row passengers and a panoramic roof.

At the same time, the Americans declassified the most luxurious performance of the Yukon model called Denali, which is traditionally in high demand.

Outside, the modification can be easily distinguished by its fine-mesh grille, abundant exterior chrome and large 22-inch wheels.

The new generation GMC Yukon Denali 2021 has its own interior design for the first time.

Inside, the original design of the front panel with a wide visor and a 10.0-inch display of the multimedia system mounted in the center console, while on the regular Yukon, the latter presents a tablet sticking out in the center.

Despite these features, the center console, buttons and analog tidy with an 8.0-inch on-board computer screen are still standard here, but Denali’s seats are more comfortable and trimmed with expensive leather, while the interior is decorated with wood veneer inserts.

In addition, an off-road AT4 version is now available for the Yukon SUV.

It has a matte decor instead of chrome, a radiator grille with several horizontal ribs, bumpers beveled for better geometric cross-country ability, as well as underbody protection and off-road tires.

In terms of dimensions, the 2021 GMC Yukon reaches a length of 5,334 mm, while the stretched Yukon XL is already 5,720.

Thanks to these dimensions, the maximum trunk volume of the models can reach 3,480 and 4,097 liters, respectively.

Under the hood, a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder Duramax turbodiesel with 281 hp is now available. (623 Nm), and the gasoline eight-cylinder aspirated engines remained the same, although they were modernized at the same time.

In particular, they received direct fuel injection and a system for shutting off part of the cylinders at low loads.

The standard version of the GMC Yukon relies on a 5.3-liter engine with a return of 360 forces (519 Nm), and the Denali version — a 6.2-liter unit for 426 «horses» and 623 Nm of torque.

All of these powertrains work in conjunction with a ten-speed automatic, developed in conjunction with Ford.

Drive on SUVs is rear-mounted by default, and an all-wheel drive transmission with front-wheel clutch and crawler gear is available for an extra charge.

Another option is the electronically controlled rear differential lock.

Instead of the previous continuous axle, the 2021 GMC Yukon uses independent rear suspension, which is designed to significantly improve handling and comfort.

Plus, the model is available with air suspension, which allows you to adjust the ground clearance in the range of 102 mm. It is the default for off-road AT4 and is optional for all other versions.

The new GMC Yukon body will be installed on the assembly line at the Arlington (Texas) plant, which also produces the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban.

The first cars will appear in the showrooms of American dealers in the summer of 2020, there is no information on prices yet. These cars are not officially supplied to the Russian market.
