Hyundai i20 2022.

Ahead of the launch of the new Tata Altroz DCA in India, Hyundai has decided to update its i20 hatchback.

Sources close to the brand’s dealers say that the car will get fresh variants in the lineup.

In addition, the manufacturer will discontinue some modifications as well as update the list of equipment available for the Hyundai i20 2022.

This move is made in an attempt to keep the car’s equipment on par with its newer competitors, such as the recently released Maruti Suzuki Baleno, as well as the Tata Altroz DCA and Toyota Glanza.

The latter model should hit the market in the very near future.

According to dealers, Hyundai i20 will get two new variants. At the same time, the two existing modifications will be removed from production.

The mid-level i20 Magna will be sold with a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission.

This variant has so far only been available with the iMT transmission.

Also new will be a combination of gasoline (1.2-liter motor) and variator in the top configuration Asta (O). Previously only manual transmission was available here.

Depending on the version buyers will also get some additional equipment.

Automatic climate control and cruise control will appear in the i20 Sportz trim.

The former was previously available starting with the Asta package, while the latter was exclusive to the fully loaded Asta (O).

In addition, the Asta modification should additionally get a sunroof. Dealers also report that some services may be removed.

In particular, the manufacturer may offer a smaller 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia display instead of the current 10.25-inch one, and remove the connected car features.

Such a decision should have a positive impact on the cost of the Korean model, as Hyundai i20 belongs to the budget segment and, accordingly, its direct competitors have a fairly low price.
