Hyundai Ioniq 5 2022 — new electric crossover.

The serial electric car Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a transforming salon and ultra-fast charging is presented.

The Korean company Hyundai has presented a new electric crossover Ioniq 5. The novelty is built on the modular platform Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) specially designed for electric vehicles.

The exterior of the electric vehicle is almost entirely borrowed from the 45 concept. It is worth noting the complex edge-stamping on the sidewalls, a voluminous bonnet, “pixel” LED headlights and lanterns, and sliding door handles.

The rear-wheel drive versions of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 2022 are equipped with a 170-horsepower or 218-horsepower electric motor, and the all-wheel drive versions are equipped with two electric motors (one per axle), developing a total of 235 or 306 horsepower.

The basic modifications of the electric vehicle are equipped with a 58 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, and the top versions are equipped with a 72.6 kilowatt-hour battery.

From 0 to 100 km / h, the rear-wheel drive Ioniq 5 accelerates in 8.5 seconds, and the all-wheel drive in 6.1 seconds. The maximum speed can reach 185 km / h (electronically limited).

The power reserve can reach 480 kilometers on the WLTP cycle.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 has an ultra-fast charging function that allows you to use any charger, and from a powerful 350-kilowatt station, it charges from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

The car interior can be transformed: the console between the front seats can move longitudinally by 140 mm, and their backs can be tilted back.

In the US and Europe, sales of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will begin in the spring of 2021. Prices will start from 35-40 thousand euros (about 3.1-3.6 million rubles). The electric crossover will reach Russia at the end of 2021.

The design of the new Hyundai IONIQ 5

In January 2021, Hyundai released actual photos of the new IONIQ 5. As you can see, the IONIQ 5 will have a distinctive design unlike anything else in the Hyundai lineup.

This was no coincidence, as the company had previously promised that in the future we can expect a «fundamental shift» in the design of electric vehicles.

From the teaser, it can be seen that the crossover is equipped with pixel headlights that «suggest digital technology inside.» Hyundai also said the model will be the first to feature a full-width clamshell bonnet, «thus minimizing panel gaps and creating a clean, high-tech overall look.»

You can also see the fully enclosed grille and side mirrors equipped with cameras. We can also see contrasting bodywork, slim taillights and aerodynamically optimized wheels measuring around 20 inches.
