The next-generation Hyundai Kona 2024 crossover loses its disguise a year before its official debut.
One of Hyundai’s most successful cars lately is the Kona crossover, which is unequivocally proved by its sales volumes.
However, this model is not available in Russia, but in Europe and Asia it is one of the main contenders for the primacy in the category «most popular compact crossover».
The manufacturer is currently working on the second generation Hyundai Kona 2024, and one of the model’s test prototypes was spotted testing in the Austrian Alps.
The main value of the photos presented is that you can see the front of the model, which is not covered with the traditional mantle, and in terms of camouflage, the manufacturer has limited only to vinyl stickers.
And here we find a very interesting detail, the fact is that in this prototype under the edge of the hood runs the original light strip, combining the headlights, which, in turn, is divided into two segments.
Obviously, the manufacturer has borrowed this design solution from the recently introduced minivan Hyundai Staria.
In general, the headlights look ready for serial production, which can’t be said about the trapezoidal grille.
One photo shows the Kona 2024’s door panel from the inside, as well as the style of the split rear optics.
According to rumors, the interior of the updated crossover will be inspired by the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 and this should be the main advantage of the compact model over its main competitors, among which stands out Volkswagen T-Roc, which, by the way, was updated not so long ago.
Its debut is scheduled for 2023, and its sales will start either at the end of the same or the beginning of 2024.
The engine range will still consist of all-electric, gasoline and hybrid powertrains, but the diesel engine, according to rumors, will be replaced by a rechargeable gasoline hybrid.
Also in the range will be front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.
