Hyundai Kona N 2022.

Hyundai company has revealed the prices and equipment packages of the sporty Kona N 2022.

It should be noted that the official launch of sales has not been given, despite the availability of prices on the website.

Although earlier Hyundai said that the Kona N will be on sale by the end of this year.

Hyundai will start selling the sporty Kona N very soon. On the brand’s website you can read not only about the prices, but also about the characteristics of the car.

The base version will cost $35,425, which is the equivalent of 2.65 million rubles today. Although initially many thought that the cost would be higher.

On the North American market, the car will be sold with a 2.0 liter motor. The maximum power reaches 276 horsepower.

The engine is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With a special overboost option the power of the motor can grow up to 286 hp.

Due to the high output, acceleration of the crossover to 100 km/h from a place takes only 5.5 seconds. The maximum speed reaches an impressive 240 km/h.

The options are also rich. Wheel disks have a diameter of 19 inches, and five driving modes are available to drivers.

Compared to the standard version we see slightly modified bumpers, as well as the original nameplates.

In the interior, we note the appearance of special sports seats. Otherwise, the car repeats the classic version.

The Kona N is not only a new addition to Hyundai’s growing lineup of high-performance vehicles, but it is also the first N model with an SUV body type.

Hyundai positions the Kona N as the ideal sports car, also for everyday driving.

The presentation of the model, as well as the new brand concept and sports driving philosophy, took place as part of the virtual Hyundai N Day event dedicated to the N sub-brand.

The sporty exterior of the car is emphasized by the wide body and low seating position.

The front of the crossover is highlighted by large air intakes and a light headlight with a pattern reminiscent of the claws of a tiger.

At the rear, there is a large split spoiler on the roof, increasing downforce of the crossover, and a triangular additional brake light — traditional for all models of the N sub-brand.

The crossover has large bifurcated exhaust pipes, and a large diffuser at the bottom of the rear bumper speeds up airflow. Kona N has 19-inch alloy wheels of special design, and the sills are decorated with red inserts.

A new body color Sonic Blue is offered specially for the model. This is a new shade of Performance Blue, which so far has been most associated with the N line.

The light blue Sonic Blue contrasts nicely with the red lines of the lower body inserts that are associated with the N models.

The Kona N is powered by a 2.0 GDI turbocharged engine paired to an 8-speed robotized transmission with a dual wet clutch.

The engine develops a maximum power of 280 hp and its top speed is 240 km/h. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds.

Already in basic configuration, the crossover is equipped with the exhaust volume control and the N Grin Control system, which offers four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport N and Custom. They affect the character of the car by changing different parameters of the engine, electronic stabilization system, exhaust sound and steering, as well as adjusting the car to different road conditions.

The Kona N features a digital dashboard with a 10-inch screen and a special racing projection display.

The sporty crossover is equipped with a wide range of driver assistance systems, including frontal collision avoidance system, lane keeping system, lane keeping function, driver condition monitoring system, automatic high beam control system, blind spot monitoring system, rear exit collision avoidance system, safe exit system and intelligent cruise control.

In addition, the Cone N has traction control, which allows the car to cope with off-road conditions, including snow and mud. However, four-wheel drive is not available for the car.

Simultaneously with the presentation of the model, the company launched a new N sub-brand slogan, «Never just drive.»

In 2022, the automaker will expand the lineup of N and N Line cars to 18 models. In addition, Hyundai plans to use the experience of the N sub-brand to create sports cars with electric and hydrogen powertrains.

Alas, for now the Russian representation of the brand has no plans to bring the sports cross in Russia. The car is aimed at the markets of North America, Europe and Korea.

In the first year it is planned to sell 11 thousand cars, and then — 2500 pieces per year.
